Summary

The first time somebody tried to kill him was an accident.

The second time was deliberate.

Now Paul Mulchrone finds himself on the run with nobody to turn to except a nurse who has read one-too-many crime novels and a renegade copper with a penchant for violence. Together they must solve one of the most notorious crimes in Irish history.

Or else they’ll be history.

A Man with One of Those Faces is the first book in Caimh McDonnell's critically acclaimed Dublin Trilogy series, which melds fast-paced action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit.

already bought the next one

Enjoyed this book. Decent characters, simple but interesting enough plot laced with a bit of Irish humour.

The narration was OK but the recording not the best. It was very obvious when cuts/edits were made or new recording sessions were started. Variable volume and background noises as well.

Still, I want to hear more of this series so book 2 is loading as I type.

Brilliant!

I really liked this book. I listened to it on Audible and the narrator was Morgan C Jones who did a sterling job.

It is laugh out loud in places with some great one liners. The characters are well written and the story is engaging. If you like murder mysteries mixed with humour then this book should be right up your street. A rollicking Irish adventure!

Hilarious!

This is one of the very few books I would call a "double dipper"! That rare breed of book that's so good, I'll read it and I'll listen to it on Audible. Caimh McDonnell is a fabulous writer and his creations; Bunny, Jimmy, Paul, Bridget and the rest are all just adorable. I love them so much, and their escapades never fail to make me roar with laughter. This is the first book in the series, and sets the tone for ever increasing bizarre and dastardly deeds. Luckily, or not, depending on your point of view, when you throw police officers like Bunny into the mix, and upright citizens like Bridget in with him, chaos generally ensues. Definitely one of the funniest books I've listened to in a very long time, with the criminal element thrilling enough to keep any reader/listener on the edge of their seat. (Word of warning; find a low seat because if you're sitting right on the edge when a funny bit comes on, you may cause yourself a nasty injury!). Fabulous writing and a marvellous start to a superb series.

Purchased after finishing the latest Stranger Times book in the series and was not disappointed. Great characters, read well by the narrator.

Just Awesome!

Moved onto this after listening too the Stranger Times books. Lambing at the moment and genuinely had to stop the quad bike as laughing uncontrollably. Narration is probably one of the best in an audiobook. The wonder of the character Bunny McGarry is just fantastic. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

A really good romp

After enjoying Stranger Times by the same author (in a 4.5/5 kind of way) I decided to try this. Honestly I'm quite a fan of fantasy so had perhaps tempered my expectation from this book, but on balance I'd say it was actually better. For me the story was fun, followable whilst lightly engaged in work activity and, in places, laugh-out-loud-in-public funny. The narration was top class. In all, a really good medium-weight listen!
