Verborgene Wahrheiten. Veronique und Cym sind beste Freunde geworden. Kein Wunder, dass auch er sich Sorgen macht, als Veroniques Großmutter Nanai plötzlich jede Nahrungsaufnahme ablehnt. Ihre gemeinsamen Nachforschungen führen sie zu einem gut gehüteten Familiengeheimnis: Alles scheint mit Nanais verschollener Zwillingsschwester Thu zusammenzuhängen. Was geschah damals wirklich, als die beiden jungen Frauen per Boot aus Vietnam geflohen sind? Und kann Cym Veronique und Nanai helfen?

Cym ist noch nie geschwommen - kein einziges Mal. Kein Wunder, dass ihn die Aussicht auf den ersten Schwimmunterricht in der Schule nervös macht. Andererseits - wie schwer kann das schon sein? Cym trägt schließlich die Badeshorts seines Vaters. Leichtherzig lässt er sich zu einem Wettkampf hinreißen. Dass Cym dabei fast ertrinkt, hätte niemand erwartet. Dass der Unfall eine Familienkrise auslöst, erst recht nicht. Cym muss einer Wahrheit auf die Spur kommen, die sein Leben auf den Kopf stellt. Doch das Beste ist, dass er dadurch echte Freunde gewinnt.
