Summary

The BRAND NEW Barton thriller from the bestselling Ross Greenwood.

After three years behind a desk, Inspector John Barton wonders if he’s still got what it takes.

An opportunity arises to return to Major Crimes, so he jumps at it, after all he’s been around the block a few times. When he and his team are called in to investigate an attempted murder which seems to be linked to the case of a missing child, Barton is immediately thrust back into the life of a detective – early mornings, late nights and endless pressure to get to the truth.

Then a man dies.

Something deadly is going on behind the high walls and imposing gates of the mansions in the sleepy village of Castor. The locals are keeping each other’s secrets and if Barton doesn’t find out why soon, the bodies will start mounting up.

The Village Killer knows who’s next, and the clock is ticking…

The book all Ross Greenwood fans have been waiting for - Barton is Back! Ross Greenwood returns to his bestselling series, perfect for fans of Mark Billingham and Ian Rankin.

Barton is back!

Not as good as I’d hoped but still lovely to hear David Thorpe as Barton again. Such a wonderful performance and the crew I grew to love working together again. Overall a good little listen and an awesome set of characters!

Excellent, as always! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been loving Ross Greenwood's other excellent, Norfolk based series, but Barton and his team hold a special place in my heart, so I was delighted to learn there was going to be a new book in the Barton series!! It was every bit as amazing as I'd hoped it would be!! I adore all of the banter between Barton and his wife, Holly, and the Major Crimes team, and love following the breadcrumb trail to guess the killer. Towards the end of his books, you are always sure that you know who it is, as there are cleverly written chapters from the killer's POV, and that's when a few extra red herrings are thrown in, to make you not completely sure.
Excellent writing and narration, as aalways! Long may this series continue.

Barton

I've missed Barton & the gang. There's a lot of story going on and it's great. Winning combination of author and narrator.

Welcome back Barton

It was so nice to have Barton & the Gang back again. Such good humour between the characters as they navigate their changes in life while investigating serious crimes.
Story was good and it’s still written where you get to hear the different points of view including from the killer.
Always fabulous when Holly ensures everyone gathers for Christmas leaving no one alone.
Great to still have David Thorpe narrating.
