Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Key to Happiness, written and read by Meik Wiking.
Meik Wiking understands happiness better than anyone. In his role as Founder and CEO of the world's only Happiness Research Institute, he has travelled the globe interviewing the world's happiest people to discover the key components of happiness.
In The Key to Happiness, Meik explores the hidden treasures which can improve your happiness and divides them into the six building blocks of happiness: togetherness, money, health, kindness, trust and freedom. For each happiness block he offers practical tips: for togetherness he encourages setting up a mini-library in your apartment building or starting a tool-sharing programme in your street; for kindness he suggests leaving a surprise gift on a stranger's doorstep, helping a tourist find their way or telling someone who means a lot to you that they do.
Drawing on social science, case studies and Meik's original research, this practical guide shows us that you can find happiness in a simple way of life. While Meik has travelled across the glove to discover the secrets of the world's happiest people, this book shows us that you can be just as happy where you are.
This book is the perfect guide on how to survive and navigate the modern world with a smile on your face.

Listening again!
Loved this book! Have taken a lot from it about practical ways of bringing more happiness to the world and my local community.
Meik has a great way of explaining things and with the odd joke thrown in is a joy to listen to. My 10 year old son has been requesting to listen to it too, which I think is brilliant as he will be the next generation to promote happiness.
Finished the book. Now listening to it again and recommending to friends.
(Downloaded this after listening to him talk to Fearne Cotton on the Happy Place podcast)

Practical advice to make your community and you happier
I'm a fan on Meik Wiking. I have bought this book and the Little Book of Hygge in hardback on the strength of the audio books. Nothing he writes is earth shattering, but if everyone implemented one example from this book, the world would be a much happier place.

Absolutely worth reading/listening
I think it is a great idea that the book is narrated by tha author himself. It makes such a difference. It makes you feel more connected to his book and the subject. I enjoyed listening to his voice. The book contains a lot of little things you could built into your everyday life in order to have a happier life.
My favourite quotation:'Kindness is which makes the deaf hear and the blind see'.

Denmark sounds like a lovely place to live
Narrator has a lovely accent to listen to. I would love to live the way the Danish live they seem to trust strangers readily and are kind to each other. A lot of the lifestyle suggestions are more suited to extroverts but I thoroughly enjoyed it. All his books are great.
