About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Three women. One Killer.
Talking to strangers has never been more dangerous...

When the body of forty-four-year-old Karen Simmons is found abandoned in remote woodland, journalist Kiki Nunn is determined this will be the big break she so desperately needs.

Because she has a head start on all the other reporters. Just a week before Karen was killed, Kiki interviewed her about the highs and lows of mid-life romance. Karen told her all about kissing strangers on the beach under the stars, expensive meals, roses. About the scammers, the creeps, the man who followed her home the other night...

While the police appear to be focusing on local suspects, Kiki sets out to write the definitive piece on one woman's fatal search for love. But she will soon learn that the search for truth can be just as deadly...

Distinctly average

Hard to believe this is the same author of the very entertaining Kate Waters series. This novel is so incredibly average and is not helped by some of the worst narration I've ever heard; particularly from the journalist character. This is just a run of the mill police procedural. Avoid.

Not bad

I was waiting for this book by F Barton. The story is robust and full of twists. A pity though that the real killer was not punished.

Couldn’t tolerate the narrator voice for Kiki

Couldn’t tolerate the narrator voice for Kiki. Tried to continue but their voice ruined it for me. Gave up listening after 8 chapters. Shame as I really enjoyed the other books by this author. Strongly suggest you try the sample before you buy

Kiki makes my brain cry!!!!

The narrator that reads the part of Kiki is absolutely TERRIBLE. Monotone, monotonous, dreary, just absolutely awful and spoils the whole book.
I really enjoy Fiona Barton's books, but this one I'm struggling with purely because of the narration. It's making my brain bleed.
AWFUL
#PENGUIN, you should REALLY consider re-recording the 'Kiki' elements of this audio book with someone more competent to read the part, you should then offer the new recording to those who have already purchased this dire issue I'm sure Fiona Barton will be disappointed to read these reviews of her work, which is taking a battering because of the terrible, terrible narration.
