About this listen
Matt Dorning likes his life just the way it is. Escorting provides him with enough money to live in his favorite city New York, and he’s been doing it long enough that he knows the rules: don’t give it away when there’s always someone who'll pay for it; always leave them wanting more; and never, never lose your heart to a client.
Lucas Sawyer is about to challenge all Matt’s rules. He’s a beautiful man who shouldn’t need to pay for sex, and yet, Matt knows he’s the latest hooker in a long line. Lucas lives a life Matt can only dream of, but it doesn’t appear to make him happy. There’s something going on beneath that poised, self-assured exterior. And Matt also knows that his time with Lucas won’t last forever - escorts have a certain shelf life where he’s concerned.
So, what happens when the man who doesn’t "do" relationships starts to question his life? Lucas is about to embark on a journey of self discovery...and Matt’s life is about to get messy.
Although this is part of the Material World series, it is a stand-alone novella. Expect sex, silk, and sensuality.

Fantastic story and oh, so hot!
It’s no secret that John Solo is one of my favorite audiobook performers. He doesn’t just narrate a book, he performs it. I loved all of the emotions he showed while reading this story. K.C. Wells writes wonderful books and they run the gamut from sort of sweet to super-hot. Silk is definitely on the hot end of the spectrum.
The story engaged me right from the beginning and didn’t let me go. I could listen to John Solo’s voice all day long and not get tired of it. I could also read K.C. Wells stories all day long and never get tired of them. Combining K.C.’s writing and John’s fantastic voice is one of my favorite things.
Lucas is a wealthy man who hires escorts for sex but the encounters leave him feeling like something is missing. He never uses the same escort more than once – that is until he hires Matt. Matt has multiple jobs, being an escort is just one of them. He also works in his family’s restaurant – his father is grooming him to take over one day – and he also models men’s underwear.
As soon as they meet, Lucas knows that Matt is different but he doesn’t see him again right away. Matt knew that Lucas was a one-shot deal when they met up so he was shocked to get another call from him. I really liked these two guys together; their chemistry was great and John Solo’s voice really brought that out.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. K.C. Wells’ words and John Solo’s voice guarantee a fantastic listening experience every single time.

If only hearts obeyed the rules
I really loved this story of escort Matt and his wealthy client Lucas. In the beginning, Lucas is something of an enigma. He is well known among the escorts as a very sexy, very wealthy silver fox with blue silk sheets, who rarely sees the same escort twice and never three times. At first, Matt takes his invitation to join Lucas with a big dose of excitement and pride, especially when he gets that second date. They have an incredible connection, and the sex is great, but both men soon realize that's it's about more than the physical connection. Well-meaning family members on both sides get involved, sometimes with heart-felt advice, and other times with demands and expectations. I absolutely loved Grandma Diane! I enjoyed watching Matt and Lucas break down each others walls and change their life perspectives on what was important to them and what made them happy. I really thought Matt's idea on how to help Lucas' social anxiety was unique and perfect. I liked both the MCs, but Matt was truly special. I enjoyed the gentle way he initiated the Aussie into the world of making love. A very enjoyable story, with fantastic, well-developed characters. There is not a lot of serious heartache, drama, or angst here, but we are dealing with escorts and underwear models, so there is a lot of hot sex. The encounters are varied and engaging, flowing readily with the story. I was engaged through the entire listen, and I loved the sweet ending. The narration by John Solo was perfect for this book. I thought his tone felt more mature than some of the other books with his narration that I have listened to, and I really liked it.

Steamy Silk Sheets
Hiring an escort turns into so much more than either of them ever expected or thought possible. I love this type of romance! KC Wells delivers yet again with another steamy, sweet, romantic addition to the Material World series.
Having these words voiced by the amazingly talented John Solo makes the experience that much better. He brings the emotions, humor & STORY to life and just makes you feel everything they're going through. Excellent job, both author and narrator!

another beautiful story! each story is so different but they all have heart, depth and hope. I loved both Matt and Lucas and think this was my fav couple yet! both men so dynamic and unique, they play off each other so well, match each other, push each other and surprise each other. A beautiful story with quirks, heart and a feel good happy ever after 😉😂

Love the chemistry
I really enjoyed this story and these characters. Maybe it’s because I enjoy sassiness. Matt has plenty of confidence and a touch of sass. Lucas is good at business but a little more reserved when it comes to his personal life. I enjoyed reading about Matt perfectly comfortable with who he is and what he does for the most part. I really enjoyed Lucas’s grandmother Diane. The story moves right along and the characters are well developed. The situations are so well described that I could easily picture each. The narration by John Solo was perfect for this story and these characters. I was given a copy from GRR and this is my opinion.

Really good story with strong characters
Silk is the third book in K.C. Wells Material series and this story sees Lucas hire Matt for one night together but it somehow turns into another, and another. A white hot attraction slowly becomes something more as the two men spend time together outside of the bedroom.
I enjoyed both characters and how they are first established before meeting each other. Matt is happy with his life and escorting that helps to pay so he can continue living in New York where his family and their restaurant are. Lucas has built a successful business empire and, while he's very comfortable with his lifestyle, he finds himself quite lonely. Matt is the latest in a line of escorts that Lucas has used but there's not been someone quite like him before. You can feel a connection building between them and it's the sweet moments that they spend together that I enjoyed the most. It's when their relationship builds and they both show their vulnerable sides, especially loved that from Lucas with him being older, successful and wealthy. Their age gap generally doesn't have much impact until family members make a comment and it doesn't really show when their alone, Matt comes across as quite mature for his age especially with his plans regarding his family's business. Both men's families are involved at points and they are most entertaining, Lucas's Grandmother being my favourite.
I love the story and characters, it's definitely worth consuming this book and the series overall. I look forward to seeing where this goes next.
John Solo does another wonderful job narrating. The characters are brought to life and I found it easy to fall into listening to the story.

Loved the two guys but adored the grandmother
One thing that will immediately sell me on a romance these days is if one of the characters has an older relative that I would like to be or be besties with. Here, we have that in Lucas' grandmother. Loved her to death. Lucas and Matt provided a plot great set up in that both of them had set strict rules for never getting involved beyond a superficial level. That is, until they meet each other. Watching them struggle to accept their new emotional reality and learn to be vulnerable to each other was amazing. John Solo nailed this one. He is always great with humor and snark, but here he digs deeply into these guys and captures their struggles and uncertainties perfectly. This whole series has been wonderful but this one is especially good.

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Love Beneath Silk Sheets
Silk is the third book in the “A Material World” series, but it stands on its own. No knowledge of the other books in the series are needed to fully enjoy this one. And this book is extremely enjoyable. K.C. Wells used the well-loved tropes of age-gap, sugar-daddy, and opposites attract, and infused them with her own brand of uniqueness. This made the book such a delight to read.
The main characters were such interesting and dynamic characters. Matt is a young man who’s working at his family restaurant and escorts on the side as a both a hobby and a way to make extra money. Matt has no tragic backstory, but genuinely enjoys life even though he keeps love and relationships at an arm’s length. Meeting Lucas, another man who shies away from relationships, completely changes Matt’s life. Lucas was not expecting to be captivated by Matt, but the connection he feels with the other man was instantaneous and magnetic. Together, both men will have to work together to overcome. I adored the relationship between Matt and Lucas – it was feisty, powerful, and so hot and sexy, but overall, it was extremely loving.
The audiobook was narrated by John Solo who did a fantastic job. John narrated each character perfectly with a very energetic and delightful performance. The audiobook production was also well done and it made for really enjoyable listening experience.

Really enjoyed
I really enjoyed listening to this book as Matt escorts for Lucas. There are some steamy scenes. Though the time limit isn’t as short as they both expected.
