Summary

Another thrilling case featuring Detective Inspector Geraldine Steel.

When a man dies in a gas explosion, the police suspect arson, and the Murder Investigation Team is called in to investigate. But the case takes on a new and terrible twist when a local villain is viciously attacked. As the police enquiries lead from the expensive Harchester Hill estate to the local brothel, a witness dies in a hit-and-run. Was it coincidence - or cold-blooded murder?

The Murder Investigation Team has problems of its own – and so does Geraldine Steel. A shocking revelation threatens her peace of mind as the investigation races towards its dramatic climax.

Enjoyed the book

This is the second book of the series of 11 audible books. I did enjoy the book but had to keep going back a chapter to see if i had missed something as the story was a bit disjointed. I will continue with the series as i liked the characters. The narrator was brilliant i will alwaus listen to ajbook she has narrated as she brings the story and the characters to life.

Really Enjoyed

As with Leigh Russell's first offering. Really looking forward to next book and following the personal life and career of Geraldine Steel which seems to run alongside the main story. I chose the first book partly because I think the narrator is absolutely brilliant - really pleased I did now as the books are so good.

Disappointing

I was very impressed with the first book in the Geraldine Steel series and was anticipating many happy hours of listening when I found out that there were 4 books in the series. Unfortunately books 2 and 3 do not quite live up to the promise of the first book, although they are still an easy enjoyable listen with a likeable main character. The characterisation is pretty good in all the books but books 2 and 3 suffer from over simplified plots.
