Summary

The start of a brand new crime thriller series from bestselling author of the DCI Yorke series, Wes Markin.

Still grieving from the tragic death of her colleague, DCI Emma Gardner continues to blame herself and is struggling to focus. So, when she is seconded to the wilds of Yorkshire, Emma hopes she’ll be able to get her mind back on the job, doing what she does best - putting killers behind bars.

But when she is immediately thrown into another violent murder, Emma has no time to rest. Desperate to get answers and find the killer, Emma needs all the help she can. But her new partner, DI Paul Riddick, has demons and issues of his own.

And when this new murder reveals links to an old case Riddick was involved with, Emma fears that history might be about to repeat itself…

Easy listen police drama

Easy listen police drama set in North Yorkshire. Predictable in places but moved at a good pace and I enjoyed listening to this while crafting. Good narration too, with nice variation between characters to make it easy to follow. Overall a good listen.

A Promising Series

I was familiar with this writer from another series. This offshoot has all the makings of a other excellent police procedural. The two main characters, along with their troubled personal lives are shaping up very nicely. Recommended

Wow!

There's a new detective on the block in this the first in the new series by Wes Markin. A brilliantly addictive story told in Wes's inimitable style. Totally different from his previous books. this is a real edge of your seat thriller from page 1, twists and turns abound and the finale is classic. The characters are well developed and you really feel as if you know them well by the end of the story. Aubrey Parsons I think excels himself in the narration and as Wes says "He nailed it!" Well worth 10 stars let alone 5 if only they were available. Highly recommended. Roll on book 2. ☺

Really enjoyed the story

Like the characters and the story Would like to find the follow on book. Sadly I didn’t enjoy the narration - for me it spoilt the story and I now wish I had read it on kindle

kept me guessing

narration a bit uncomfortable with the hoarseness at times but that might just be me.

Poor story, no tension at all

I just couldn't be bothered about any of the characters, and I couldn't get to grips with the reader, his accents were terrible. There is no tension, and perhaps this is mainly because I don't care about anybody in it.
