Summary
Seven Australian soldiers, carousing in Paris in 1918, unknowingly witness a murder and their presence has devastating consequences. Ten years later, two are dead, under very suspicious circumstances.
Phryne's wharfie mates, Bert and Cec, appeal to her for help. They were part of this group of soldiers in 1918 and they fear for their lives and for those of the other three men. It's only as Phryne delves into the investigation that she, too, remembers being in Montparnasse on that very same day.
While Phryne is occupied with memories of Montparnasse past and the race to outpace the murderer, she finds troubles of a different kind at home. Her lover, Lin Chung, is about to be married. And the effect this is having on her own usually peaceful household is disastrous.

Murder in Montparnasse
Another terrific murder mystery with Miss Fisher having to confront her past, as her first love enters Australia. Alone with this she is asked to find a missing bride to be, as the groom is worried about her. Read brilliantly again by Stephanie Daniel.

excellent book 👌
I Love this book so very much.
I really like how it expands on phryne time in France and how she comes across as selfish at some parts think it really shows the she isn't this perfect character but flawed like the great majority of people.
I also really like how cec and Bert get to revenge their friends, and how phryne gets to overcome the painful memories of Paris.
another thing that made me laugh was when Collins suggested that dot dot on his knee and she gives him Veronique Sarcelle instead!

Not one of the best
I really didn't like this book at all, and to be honest it made me really dislike Phryne as a character. She can across as selfish, spoiled and unpleasant, and in the end I just stopped listening to the book. I also found some of the behaviour of the other characters utterly unbelievable. For example the incredibly religious Dot being accepting of her boss carrying on an affair with a married man. I will try the next in the series but if this is how her character is developing I won't continue with the series.
