Some secrets should stay buried for ever…

Two months since ex-Police Negotiator Laura Hart was forced back into action after her son’s kidnap, she has re-joined the force as a DI. On her first day, an anonymous tip-off leads to the discovery of a skeleton in a crumbling castle ruin near the seaside town of Beaumaris, Anglesey.

Laura can’t wait to prove herself by solving the case and when the investigation leads her to MI5 and the Real IRA, she knows she’s on the trail of something truly explosive.

Another brilliant series from this author

Another brilliant series and once again it features a strong female detective. Full of twists and turns making it impossible to guess the outcome. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat right to the end and all wonderfully narrated by Alice White. Cant wait for the 3rd instalment.

Fab crime thriller

I enjoyed the first book in this series, and this second book is even better! Laura Hart is now back in the police force as a DI on the island of Anglesey. Her first case is the investigation of bones found in a shallow grave.

The book is intelligently written, fast paced and well plotted. There are several twists along the way that I absolutely did not see coming! I liked that as well as the present day setting of Anglesey we are also taken back to 1980/s/90s Northern Ireland against a backdrop of 'The Troubles', which I found really interesting. DI Hart is a fantastic character with an interesting back story which continues into the present. I love the way she talks to her dead husband, and am always a fan of a cute dog in a story, and so love Elvis the Bernese Mountain dog.

I loved the narration by Alice White.

Good…if you are not from Ireland!

I enjoy the Anglesey series and I am captivated by the sound of the beautiful Welsh names mentioned in the story. But, as someone from Northern Ireland and living in Belfast, I was frustrated that some Irish towns and streets were mispronounced. It only takes a phone call to someone from the North to get the correct pronunciation! The plot of the book was really fun and well thought through - but those mispronounced names set my teeth on edge!

Enjoyable

Would have preferred the narrator, who read well, not to have been struggling due to what sounded like a very heavy cold. The story was good tho I don’t like jumping from one location to another and leaps backwards and forwards in time

Enjoyable

Am really liking these books. Nice twist in this plot. However a couple of things were irritating, firstly, the scenes ran into each other. One minute the characters were out investigating and without a pause it’s the next day in a briefing. Secondly, why did the narrator read with such a dreadful head cold. Let the performance down somewhat.

Great story and characters but god it was irritating that it was narrated throughout by someone who seemed to have a heavy cold! Horrible to listen to but had to carry on to see what happened. Go home and have a Lemsip!!!
