Summary
For all that Jason knows, life is amazing. But he's about to learn that all his new power, wealth, and influence comes at a price.
Riding high on success, he and his team are looking to the future, preparing themselves for the challenges to come. Nothing, however, could have prepared him for the lessons his enemies have to teach. When magic is involved, the stakes can be even greater than life and death.
While Jason’s personal enemies make plans, the greater foes plaguing his new home have been pushed to the brink. With one powerful card left to play, they are on a collision course with Jason and his team. With no one to help and more than their lives on the line, Jason and his companions must fight with more monsters than ever in the race to grow stronger. With an invincible enemy already anticipating them, they will learn that sometimes winning the battle is more important than surviving it.

I cannot wish for a better listen, I have binged the first 3 books in a week and await book 4.
it's a well detailed and brave twist to the story and very unexpected escalation of the plot

dang you
I listened and greatly enjoyed the first two books, this one, by the gods its the best yet, drama, intrigue, fighting, systems, and soo many feels. well done to the author and bravo to the narrator, now to wait and wait and wait for the next part, but as a fan, that's sort of my thing. :p

I have one big critique
Constantly breaking immersion to read ability stats will get frustrating sometimes. I've had instances in big battles where 7 stats were completely read out in just a few minutes of listening, spanning maybe a few seconds of story time....

Too many 'spells'
this is a well read book although pretty much every fight is filled with a list of spells and their costs which I think detracts from the overall drama of the book. overall it is a good book

Finally some major rank ups!
I really enjoyed the turn to story is taking. Personally unconcerned by the "everyone is Jason" trope so far. And more screen time for Colin!

Better and better
Just when I thought that the series may stagnate a bit, Jason gets kidnapped and my what a kidnapping it was. This book has been unbelievable, from Rufus almost dieing, to Jason being kidnapped, to the training, to the team going back to the reapers astral space (but is it really the reapers astral space?), to them facing the builder, oh and Jason has a new power which is game changing in their fight against the builder. you'll just have to listen to the book to find out what.
Back to the storyline- this book was out of this works in terms of humour, adventure, surprises, and towards the end a lot of sadness even more than Farah's.
what I really liked about the end of this book was the epilogues. whilst the timing of them was extremely annoying considering what happened immediately before they started. they finally gave us a backstory and context to this world and situation Jason has been thrown into without really knowing how or why.
I'm really looking forward to book 4, which has started pretty damn good.

thouraly enjoyable 😉
cannot rate this enough. I expected it to taper off in the third book, but it seems to expand exponentially just like its multidimensional realities and characters. love the narration as well. I wish I could create such beauty and feeling in a story.
