Summary

For a boy coming of age and discovering a magical self-reliance and new powers for every occasion, the future is in the cards, in this fantasy adventure.

Arthur lives with his father, a fallen but proud former noble, in Border Village #49, along with the other good folks condemned to toil in service to the Baron. But Arthur has an edge: a stolen heart card that secretly fell into his possession, thanks to a dragon. It’s a priceless source of power for the Baron and the tyrant will kill to get it back. Invaluable, too, to a young man of spellcasting ambitions.

So, at the behest of his father—and to save his own hide—Arthur flees and joins a trader caravan on the kingdom’s backroads. Mile by dusty mile, he gains new skills and learns more about his increasing capabilities. But when he meets Horatio, his sharp-tongued new best friend and a spell card collector himself, Arthur discovers the greater powers to come by building on the Legendary card hidden close to his heart.

One step ahead of the Baron’s hunters, Arthur and Horatio forge on under a sky full of guardian dragons—from the adorably loopy to the mystically wise—and their unflappable riders. Amidst danger, rescue, and friendships with both humans and those creatures of the more leathery variety, Arthur awakens to a newfound confidence . . . and the extraordinary things that can arise from the simplest magics.

The first volume of the hit progression fantasy series, featuring a unique card-based magic system, now available for the first time!

Critic reviews

“Honour Rae’s All the Skills has everything I love: great writing, an intriguing mystery, and badass dragons. Well, some of them are badass. Some are dweebs, and that makes it even more awesome. And the audio is some of Luke Daniels’s finest work.” —Matt Dinniman, bestselling author of Dungeon Crawler Carl

Definitely worth a credit!

Actually a really good listen. I'm quite fussy with my LitRPG's but this one is good.

Good story, good writing and good narration. Just download it - you won't be disappointed!

Surprisingly good

I really did not expect too much from this for some reason, and to be fair I found it a little slow initially, but then I realised I was getting into it more and more, to the extent that by the end of the first book I had no issues immediately ordering book 2, which I am just about to start. I’ve not heard a Litrpg using cards before, but I am relatively new to the genre so maybe it’s a common thing. Either way I find I really liked it. And before I forget, the narrator was very good as well. I definitely recommend this book.

Incredible!

Great characters and an immersive story!
my only complaint is that with such a good story I would have liked it to stretch over more books, I'm sure more will come, but book one in it self had enough engaging content for more than one book. Not a bad flaw :P Great work!!

and then of course narrated by Luke Daniels who is incredible in his own right!

I blame you for loss of sleep

A great voice performance. Good plot pacing. Always remained interesting. Great finale. I enjoyed the side characters a lot. Felt like they were their own heroes in their own stories.

not what I expected, but great none the less.

when I read the description I came across to me as a standard if well executed story with litrpg tendencies. I was surprised to find something more akin to books like mark of the fool and lord of the undying land, with just a little mistborn in their too. it has deep world building, with echoes of the classic high fantasy stories like wheel of time and lotr but a lot of the nice modern touches of my previous examples. the litrpg elements are very much in the back ground, with it almost being more of a nod to the ganre than a true part of it, which i personally prefer. its immersive, the characters are compelling and the worldbuilding is complex. the plot takes a backseat while the characters take the for front so it almost comes across as a slice of life book that a true action or adventure novel, but it works well and their is plenty of tension built up through secrecy and intrigue. the narration isnt the best, its far from bad, but its not Travis Baldree or heath miller, the reader seems to have the most trouble with female voices, in a few cases they actually sounded more masculine than normal when trying to voice the female characters. but it doesn't really detract from the book or brake my emersion. I highly recommend, especially if you like a boy and his dragon stories
