Summary
The number one New York Times best-selling series that started with Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula continues in this third bloody installment! A luxurious ocean liner becomes a floating prison of madness and horror when passengers are murdered one by one...with nowhere to run from the killer.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are en route to New York to help solve another blood-soaked mystery. Embarking on a week-long voyage across the Atlantic on the opulent RMS Etruria, they're delighted to discover a traveling troupe of circus performers, fortune tellers, and a certain charismatic young escape artist entertaining the first-class passengers nightly.
But then, privileged young women begin to go missing without explanation, and a series of brutal slayings shocks the entire ship. The disturbing influence of the Moonlight Carnival pervades the decks as the murders grow ever more freakish, with nowhere to escape except the unforgiving sea.
It's up to Audrey Rose and Thomas to piece together the gruesome investigation as even more passengers die before reaching their destination. But with clues to the next victim pointing to someone she loves, can Audrey Rose unravel the mystery before the killer's horrifying finale?

Critic reviews
"Audrey Rose is a witty, resourceful feminist who refuses to bow to Victorian-era gender norms. This dark, gothic landscape is peopled with nuanced, diverse characters who keep readers enthralled. A gripping mystery with a compelling heroine and just the right touch of romance." (Kirkus)
"Displaying her usual fierce determination and progressive ideals, Audrey Rose is once again a compelling protagonist. Another delightfully mysterious addition to the series." (School Library Journal)
"Maniscalco's winning combinations of historical fiction, romance, forensics, and a feisty heroine will attract historical-fiction and romance readers.... Well-placed hooks advance the plot and sustain the swift pace." (Booklist)

A Good Read
Nicola Barbars reading is definitely the thing that kept me going with this book. I struggled to understand Audrey-Rose's decisions throughout most of the book. I also felt the love interest with Mephistopholes was a bit forced. Overall this was a good read.

A Disappointing Installment
Escaping from Houdini was unmemorable, disappointing and completely unnecessary. And that ending literally made me want to throw the entire laptop out of the window. A friend told me that the ARC was actually missing that final chapter, and I wished they had kept it out of the finished copy because it was unnecessary, dumb and a ridiculous plot twist. If they were hoping to "save" the book with that chapter, I can guarantee you that all it did was make me want to cry.

My holy queen
This book had me thinking about it when I wasn't even listening to it.
SPOLIERS.........
Audrey rose almost killed my heart, I swear if she was a real women I would have shaken her and slapped her to wake her up.
Thomas Creswell is a amazing man that gives her freedom but I need them to get married already my heart can't take these two any more.
PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS SERIES AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THEM AS I DID.
