About this listen

Not all guys obsess over tiny details…but Army Special Forces do.

The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right.

He would try harder.

With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick.

Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway. Next to it, held up by a knife, was a note. It was a warning - and he didn’t listen.

You’ll love being transported through time, to a future unlike anything we’ve imagined, where Alex’s fight to get back home becomes an epic struggle. This first book in the series will blow you away.

Good concept well executed.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this but wasn't disappointed, the world Inmon created was great and I enjoyed the story arc and the way the world was built throughout the book.

McClain's performance was fantastic, great use of voices and very well delivered.

Fantastic series!

I have really enjoyed this series and will be sad to see it end. It's more fantasy than sci fi so be warned, the time travel element does crop up periodically through the series but is not the main feature. Enjoyable series with many likabl3 characters i could invest in. Better than some i could mention on audible but i won't. Pulp fantasy, action and adventure with some sci fi elements throughout the series.. the series really opens up as it goes and some nice world building. It reminded me of John Carter at times and the other lost at others, certainly elements of Verne and Wells, a modern take of course.

Different, enjoyable and thought provoking.

An interesting take on time travel and an engaging story that leaves you with many questions about the world Alex finds himself in and what happened there in its past. Also makes you ponder on what being truly civilised is. I will buy the next book as I enjoyed this one.

Medicare

not what I expected. instead of being an adventure into the future and being in awe at all the tech it's more like a trip into the past with a long list tribe.

it's boring in places really boring.
story is ok just not great.

Julie

I just loved it. I enjoyed the narration. I didn't know what to expect, but it conjured up a fabulous land where maybe we could learn a thing or two. Going to get next book and go back there!

Not quite five out of five yet 4*

Once again Shawn Inmon, a lovely guy who takes the time to interact with his reader base by the way in addition to an author of no small skill, provides the world with a magical story. I know, for all my surface bravado, that I could not do what Shawn Inmon does. his books are an adventure in the tradion of Auther Conan Doyle's The Lost World or Tolkien's Lord of the Rings yet written in a more accessible modern style.

The writing is as engaging and unpretentious as the man and exudes his warmth, occasional gentle humour and love that bring me back to him time and again. It's not Shakespeare or Dickens and Shawn would be the first to agree 5/5 would be over rating it. Still though, I feel rather mean giving it just 4/5. if I could give it 4½/5 I would.

The world is a better place for Shawn having been in it and what more could any man ask for as a legacy?

Thank you Shawn. Thank you once again.
