Miss Hewitt Investigates Series

It is London 1915 and Great Britain is at war with Germany. Stylish lady detective Miss Isabel Hewitt's manservant Clarke is away in Flanders serving in the Royal Medical Corps. Isabel is anxious for his safety. On the Home Front she has become involved with the Women's Emergency Corps. Isabel is coping with her new life and then someone murders two girls from the WEC. These take place in Shoreditch and there are fears that Jack the Ripper may be back. Isabel is asked to investigate and she embarks on a journey which becomes both emotional and very dangerous indeed.

It is London 1915, and Great Britain is at war with Germany. Feelings are running high as the liner the Lusitania has just been sunk off the Irish coast and zeppelin raids have begun on London. Stylish lady detective Miss Isabel Hewitt is approached by a young convalescing soldier Captain Alex Fraser. He is anxious to trace his natural mother, as he was given away at birth. Isabel agrees to take on the case even though she suspects the mother may be a friend of hers.

Her duties include driving a military ambulance. But she continues with her detective work. One morning, she is approached by a wealthy young woman Miss Jen-Eva Howard. This lady's fiancé, a journalist by the name of Giles Chichester, has been brutally murdered.

It is June 1916 and Great Britain is at war with Germany. Lady detective Miss Isabel Hewitt's former manservant and confidant, Clarke, has returned to the trenches as part of the Royal Army Medical Corps. He is currently in Northern France.

Stylish lady detective Miss Isabel Hewitt is approached by Joe Williams, the husband of her friend, the music hall artist, Dilly Gosling. Dilly has gone missing, and Joe asks Isabel to find her. Isabel agrees, embarking on a journey that takes her to the Front in Northern France, where she is reunited with her manservant, Clarke, and later, down to Hastings on the south coast.

They are keeping chickens and growing their own vegetables. Isabel's friend, Elvira Stone, is staying with her, so they can pool their resources.

Summer 1917 and Great Britain is still at war with Germany. Stylish lady detective, Miss Isabel Hewitt, is asked by her friend, Doctor Anne Murray, to find the mother of a new born baby, abandoned on the doorstep of Anne's hospital. Isabel goes to Luton in Bedfordshire, where Anne's hospital is situated and begins her investigation. Her search leads her to a local hat factory and a possible name for the mother. But the girl is currently missing.
