After two weeks at sea, the Oosterdam docked in Civitavecchia, Italy. Among the shipboard romantics is a not-so-young couple on their long-overdue honeymoon. Approaching their 46th wedding anniversary, they have their hearts set on an Italian adventure they would have loved to have taken earlier in their marriage - but matters of making a living and a life and raising children kept them from getting away together. The surprises begin even before departed the harbor.

Fram Gage has lived at Biality Orphanage for six months, remembering nothing about his past before arriving there. While the orphanage has provided for his needs, such as food, shelter, and even a couple of good friends, what Fram looks forward to the most is a chance to go inside The Ability Chamber: a room used for physical competitions that gives the competitors unique abilities such as super strength, wall climbing, and teleportation.

There were six of them in total, more than had been present in the bar (not that it mattered, they would have rounded up others, I was sure). The important thing is that it was them — the MAGA crew — of that I had little doubt. Three of them were crowded into the cab while three others rode in the payload — all of them wearing crudely-stitched burlap hoods — and each brandishing some form of weapon, whether that meant a pistol or a rifle or a rusty pitchfork.
