A major part of this audiobook was originally written and compiled in 1929 by Mrs. Jean (Augusta) Graham. She passed from this world in October of 1977 in her home town of Osceola, Missouri, after a long illness. She had retired in 1947 and was a member of the Osceola Presbyterian Church. She was active and much loved in the community.

“Jayhawkers” and “Red Legs” were enlisted into the Union army and praised as heroes of the country while “Partisan Rangers” of the Confederacy were branded “Bushwhackers” and “outlaws.” “Jayhawkers” under General James Lane rode into Osceola and burned it to the ground in 1861.
