Being brutal isn’t easy if you’re a pacifist. On Brutalia violence is a way of life. Ravenous ravens circle overhead, monstrous grot bears cause chaos and the streets are bulging with brawls. But Mort isn’t like the other islanders - he’s determined to live peacefully. Then the cruel queen appoints Mort as royal executioner. No one has ever challenged her and lived to tell the tale. In the middle of a snowball fight, aspiring vet Fliss is whisked away to the Antarctic! Surrounded by penguins, Fliss marvels at the sight of these beautiful animals huddling together to keep warm. Then a snowstorm blows in, separating a chick and its injured mother from the group. Fliss is determined to return her feathery friends to their colony, but the icy waters are full of dangerous creatures, and Fliss isn't used to the harsh environment. It's going to take a lot of quick thinking, and waddling, to reunite them.

When Brutalia’s ever suspicious Queen is forewarned of a new enemy – a nearby island called Bonrock – Mort is worried. As a pacifist, he’s a firm believer that strangers are just friends they haven’t met yet. Then he and his best friend and fellow pacifist Weed are sent to the island to investigate. Bonrock is a warm and welcoming place, with luscious landscapes and tropical waters. Mort’s relieved – there’s no need to fight! Until they stumble upon something terrifying. Perhaps there really is trouble in paradise?

A trip to the fairground turns into a rescue mission when Fliss finds herself in a strange forest. She watches an owl and three owlets by a stump, what must once have been a tall tree housing their nest. The mother gathers her chicks and flies away—but the smallest can't quite manage to leave the ground, and is left behind! Fliss knows she has to save the abandoned owlet. But with night drawing in and dangerous creatures all around, Fliss is going to need her tiny friend's help as much as it needs hers.

When Fliss volunteers to help at her cousin's birthday party in a jungle gym, she doesn’t expect to end up in the rainforest in India! And, if that wasn't exciting enough, she soon makes a new friend - a tiny tiger cub, left behind when its family fled from a flood. The little tiger is bursting with energy, and Fliss can't believe her luck - playing with an actual tiger cub! But as the floodwater rises, the time for games is running out. To save her stripy friend, Fliss must face monsoons, dangerous creatures and the darker side of nature.
