In the summer of 1944 the work for the resistance movement takes all Helene's time and energy. There are indications that they have an informer in the group and Helene is under suspicion. Shy Helene dreams of studying at university, finding love and getting married. A chance encounter leads her down a dangerous path with increasingly desperate choices to make in order to survive in this time of war and crisis.

Helene, una joven amable y educada por una familia conservadora, comienza a estudiar en la Universidad de Copenhague al comienzo de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. La universidad será para ella un espacio de descubrimiento en donde no solo hará nuevos amigos sino que ampliará su visión del mundo, se involucrará en política e irá tomando partido por ciertas causas que considera justas.
