Summary
Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.
These multimillion-copy best sellers are stirringly read by Kevin Pariseau for their first appearance in downloadable audio.

Masterpieces
Both ‘The Winds of War’ and ‘War and Remembrance’ are absolute masterpieces. A history of the Second World War told in terms of the experiences of one extended family but it tells of a horror that eclipsed the whole world

wonderful 'read'
I read both of these books first in the late 70's and have read them a couple of time since. so I was really pleased to find them both here.
I have greatly enjoyed having both books read to me, the voice of the reader was good, with a fair passing try at accent's, which I must admit I didn't find annoying at all.
I would definitely recommend, if you have never read Winds of War or War and rememberence, do yourself a favour and listen to them. Wouk is brilliant at weaving historical fact into fiction.

A must read
Everyone should read ‘Winds of War’ and ‘War and Remembrance’ by Herman Wouk to remember the sacrifices made by so many in WW2 and the horrors inflicted on the European Jewish population. They are very informative and moving books.

Loved this book
What a great and massive book. Historically accurate and powerfully compelling. This and it's sister book, "Winds of war" give you an overview of the 2nd world war that few other novels cover. What a great writer Herman Wouk is.

Truly a magnificent book
Imo this book should be required reading in all secondary schools. While following the journey of one US family through WW2 it's most poignant part is surely the journey of the two Jewish characters as they are drawn inexorably towards their fate in the death camps of Poland. I was deeply moved by this and the descriptions of the camps themselves the transit ghetto. The author has clearly worked hard to get the historical details right which really adds power to the story. I listened to the Audio version which while long at over 50 hours constantly kept me gripped.

Outstanding
This story brings home the true horror of war. The mixing of fact and fiction and the skill of the narrator is compelling. This book should be listened to or read by everyone.

Any additional comments?
The best book I have ever 'read'. Along with its prequel 'The winds of war' - The whole saga was so moving as to be almost life altering. This is a novel that everybody should read.
Yes it is History and about an event that will have shaped the lives of every living person today, but it is brought to life through characters that you desperately care for.
I will return to this book and its prequel over and over again.
I urge you to read this and the 'Winds of War' - you will not regret it.
If I could only keep one novel (well stretch that to the two installments) it would definitely be this!!
