Summary
Gratoul city: the home to degenerates, criminals, labor men and women, and few noble souls. A city of tragedy, grief, and probable collusion.
After receiving a promotion at his construction firm, Nescien visits the hospital bed of his ill wife, Seresa. When his visit becomes the last, Nescien is torn with grief and despair, begging for his deceased wife’s revival.
An ominous figure observes his grief from the shadows; donning an odd hat, and carrying a chilling cold with him. He offers Nescien a deal, an exchange for his wife’s revival with a service to the powers of shadow. In this exchange, Nescien begets the name Umbral Stalker, and pledges his fealty to the mysterious man.
Through this power, Umbral Stalker emerges alongside the cries of those suffering, and even those past death. Arising from the shadows of perpetrators, the looming vigilante’s silhouette becomes the last image that the criminals of Gratoul will surely remember. For Umbral Stalker has only one obligation to honor: To intervene the world’s cruel fate.
With his life transformed, Umbral Stalker arises to punish all who honor death.

Dark and gripping thriller with great narration!
This audiobook is a dark and intense thriller that completely drew me in. The story follows Nescien, who, after losing his wife Seresa, makes a desperate deal with a mysterious figure to bring her back. This deal transforms him into the Umbral Stalker, a shadowy vigilante who punishes the criminals of Gratoul. The plot is filled with constant twists and turns, keeping you guessing until the very end. The transformation of Nescien into the Umbral Stalker is both tragic and captivating, as he navigates his new life driven by grief and a desire for justice. The narration is excellent, bringing the characters to life and adding depth to the suspenseful storyline. Each character's personality shines through, making the listening experience even more engaging. If you're a fan of dark, speculative thrillers with a mature tone, this book is a must-listen. The story's gritty atmosphere and complex characters make it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

Loved it!
This audiobook is a wild ride. Nescien is such an intriguing character. The story’s dark and gritty, perfect if you love tales of revenge with a supernatural twist. It's like a gritty superhero story but with way more edge. Definitely worth checking out!

Dark and Intense
I just finished listening to "Umbral Stalker: Groom to the Shadow Maiden," and it was really unique. The dark and mysterious setting in Gratoul city kept me hooked into the story, but I have to say that it was intense and the tone was bleak and a bit too much for me. What I like the most was how deep the characters were and how Nescien's journey unfolded. It's more than a story about fantasy and more about Nascien struggling emotionally which made it feel real. The heavy atmosphere though may not be for every listener, especially if you are looking for something light and easy to listen to.

Quality Listen!
The production quality of the audiobook enhances the story's dark ambiance, with the narrator’s voice lending a grave and somber tone that perfectly suits the narrative's mood.

Blurring the lines of good vs. evil
I listened to the audiobook while driving home from a work event, and I’m so glad I listened to it in big chunk so of time. The unique story line is well developed and the protagonist obviously becomes very troubled. The decisions he makes seems rational, to him, but soon become problematic.
The story moves along quickly, but the author’s writing style is something that will keep you engaged. I enjoyed the book immensely and will look for others by the author.
