Summary

If I'm going to tell the story of a life, my life, then I need to tell it warts and all. If the tale is too saccharine sweet then what can the reader take away from it? What do they learn about you? I've written everything down. The shit, the death, fun, naughtiness, addiction, laughter, laughter, laughter, some tears and lots of love and happiness. That ,to me, is a better reflection of a human's life.

Nick's family life was difficult, blighted by alcoholism, illness and sudden misfortune, meaning they lost everything overnight. He left school early and drifted from job to job, dogged by his own personal demons. It's something of a miracle that Nick survived and even more that he would achieve such success with his writing, acting and comedy.

In Truths, Half Truths and Little White Lies, Nick paints a brilliantly funny, moving and brutally candid portrait of childhood, adolescence and eventual success.

Refreshingly honest...

And a really interesting story, revealing more than Some Celebrities, certainly more than Simon Pegg!!

Well done Nick!!

not what you expect but good

You may expect this to be full of show biz anecdotes. It isn't. Candid, honest, sometimes funny and always interesting. Made all the better by Nick reading it himself.

A cracker of in depth personal truth

The personal truth Nick shares is deep and insightful. His story is absorbing. And in many ways inspiration to others who "don't know where to go next"

Great listen albeit rushed ending

Nick Frost's autobiography is a great listen but unfortunately it dedicates nearly all of the book to before he was famous. Only in the last few chapters does it cover up to "Spaced". What's frustrating is that he is clearly telling you everything from many years after this comedy series. However there are no chapters dedicated to his film career such as the Cornetto Trilogy, Paul or Cuban Fury which he references all. There are however 3 or 4 chapters dedicated to the time when he lived in Israel.

What saves the book however is his no holds barred unfiltered account of a tumultuous life which is funny and heart breaking in equal measure. If you are a fan of Frost check it out just don't expect to hear any movie antics.

I loved it, interesting and funny.

One of the best audiobooks / Autobiographies I’ve heard.
He obviously took a while reading this and good on him for doing it, you can here the voice and tone change in places. But I’d rather he read his own words!
Very funny.

Honest, heartfelt and funny as flip

Brilliant - my new thing is biographies narrated by the author and Frost is one of my top 5 self-narrated audiobooks. Pegg is another good one as is KEVIN POLLACK. Worth every penny

I think the way Nick tells his life story if refreshing.

Nothing enjoyed from start to finish!…Nick managed to tell the hard truths in his life a relatable way.
