About this listen
This is a collection of short stories by Mahmoud Suleiman Abdi Dualeh. It includes the stories "Family Day", "Mersa's Surge of Energy", and "Karen, the Misbehaved Girl".
Some of these works are stand-alones while others, like "Mersa's Surge of Energy", is the start of a series. These stories are all very different. So one, if not more, could very well interest you.

Same Stories featured in the Authors Four Very Different Short Stories
I have both versions of this and didn't realise that 3 stories were repeated across 2 books. I enjoy the stories and they certainly aren't bad despite some plot holes that when you step back and think about them, seem glaringly obvious. However, when you're able to switch off and enjoy the journey it is a very enjoyable journey.
My biggest problem with this version was the choice of narrator. I'm not sure if it's the way the book is written or if this is the general style for Kathryn but it's almost too unnatural sounding for my ears. Such striking pauses mid-sentence and a slow reading pace makes it quite a jarring listen. Perhaps it stands out more for me having listened to the same Stories under a different narrator.
Kathryn does have a lovely sounding voice and is easy to listen to in that regard but I did find it hard to enjoy listening while the reading sounds a little too unnatural. I would love to hear this narrator with content she's more comfortable with that might enable her voice to shine in a *performance* rather than a reading.
