Summary
"Working at Butlins took on a whole new meaning. Suddenly Butlins became the best place in the world."
Eighteen-year-old Terry McFadden is stuck on the dole with nowhere to go. Plagued by crippling shyness, he doesn’t have the confidence to do anything, unless it was performing on stage or on the ballroom dance floor. But that wasn’t going to get him a job.
Then, his talents set him on the road towards a life-changing summer working as a Butlins Redcoat, where under the guidance of egomaniac Entertainments Manager Ron De Vere, he discovers the person he wanted to be. He also finds true love with the lovely Angie.
Blending romantic fiction with historical fact, What Time Does Midnight Cabaret Start? is a coming-of-age love story and the debut novel of former Redcoat, Frank McGroarty.
This is the first installment of a Butlins Ayr Trilogy, set in a much-loved and missed holiday camp during the early 1980s, regarded by many as the latter years of the "Hi De Hi" era.

Greetings from the Author
Hi. I am the author and narrator of this audio book. I first of all want to thank those of you who have taken the time to listen to the story. This was my first published novel and like the original paperback, producing the audiobook was a labour of love. It was a long and challenging project, but it was a feeling of immense pride when it was officially released.
Butlins Holiday Camps, have a special place in people's heart, for me, even more so, as I had three life changing years, working there as a Butlins Redcoat. This story was inspired by my three seasons working at the former Butlins Camp at Ayr,
It is a fictional story mixed in with historical fact. When the paperback was originally published, people did not just enjoy the story, but it brought back special memories for those that went on holiday there. I hope for those who download this audio version, you will enjoy a return to the "Hi De Hi" era.
This is the first instalment of a holiday camp trilogy. Part Two, "Don't Mention Hi De Hi!" is also available in all of the formats.
Currently working on Part Three. It wont be long. I promise.
