Summary

This book contains strong language, and adult themes that may not be suitable for everyone.

Jenny sits in the same seat on the same train every week, seeing familiar faces come and go.

Until a chance encounter shatters her world.

Sixteen years ago, Jenny survived a traumatic ordeal that left her best friend, Susie, missing and presumed dead. The world has its theories about what happened to Susie Patterson, and one of those theories points the finger at Jenny.

Now she lives a quiet life, volunteering at a crisis helpline while trying to deal with her own anxiety and the true crime fans obsessed with finding her missing friend. Then, on the way to her usual shift, Jenny is certain she sees Susie sitting in coach D.

But will anyone believe her?

Seeing Susie plunges Jenny back into a nightmare of forgotten memories and haunting fears. As the past claws its way into her present, she must unravel the truth about what happened sixteen years ago.

But the deeper she digs, the more she realises that some secrets are better left buried.

Absolutely brilliant!

What an amazing author.
It’s so refreshing to listen to an audiobook with a very different storyline.
No spoilers here but I highly recommend this novel.
Not sure how the author can get any better than this.

Editing needed

a good story and some interesting ideas and characters but overlong. In need of editing down.

Mmmmm......

Sometimes a story can gave too many words. Ridiculous I know. But this was exhausting to listen to. Narrator was very good.

Wow - deep, dark, and twisted

I wasn’t sure about this book at the start nor the narration. However, as the story progresses the narration voice is bang on. So many twists and turns. The plot is dark but so plausible - an insight into exploitation and the need to belong - really enjoyed it.

Bizarre

Very bizarre storyline. Not my cup of tea. Listened to the end with hope it would all make sense but alas it didn't. Some may like this sort of thing, but not for me.

Usual plethora of twists and turns

I have read (listened) to just about all of Sarah's books and they are all enjoyable and engaging. The Woman in Coach D doesn't disappoint in that sense, I hadn't read the synopsis in advance so the story line came as a surprise to me, but then I also expected a new main theme, which was delivered with the usual well researched details that sometimes shock and at other times makes you think and sometimes 'rewind' to check you've heard something correctly because you can't quite believe what you just heard. Well done, looking forward to the next one.

Gripping story, expertly read

This story had me hooked from the first few minutes. The twists and turns had me relistening to sections to make sure I had heard correctly! Beautifully read, transporting me into the story with ease. Thank you. I highly recommend this book!

really enjoyed it

love the narrator, the story was good. however I do wonder if the editing was abit dodgy?! basically the protagonist has interatactions with a police officer that seem very erratic almost as if the small talk that the relationship was built on was cut out and only telling the listener the heated argumentative bits. the way she speaks to him seems so out of character for someone who supposedly develops feelings as the relationship progresses. as others have said tho it is a little repetitive as in the crux of the story is reapeted just in different phrases/ways.
