Summary

THE NUMBER ONE IRISH BESTSELLER!

Four sisters. One secret. A day they'll never forget...

The story follows the four Robicheaux sisters as they return home for their parents' wedding, at the beautiful Hotel Sorrento where they all grew up as children. For the first time in 15 years, the sisters are back together - and it doesn't take long for long-buried secrets to surface...

With her inimitable warmth and wisdom, Cathy Kelly shows us that in the messy reality of marriage, family, and romance, sometimes it's the women in our lives who hold us together.

Great Story: Read with care

If descriptions of DV, addiction and another female political hot topic cause you distress, tread carefully.
If you feel empowered by a sympathetic and informative description of these topics then you are in for a diverse and interesting read. Very much in the style of _Other Women_ I felt like I was a part of a wonderful tribe of women. I felt their sorrows, anxieties, and anguish as well as their love, comaradarie and victories. Boldly written and lovingly narrated --- this story has hard truths shared with tough love.

The Wedding Party

It took me a few chapters to get into the story but it became more interesting the more I read.

An unusual story

This is the first book by this author that I’ve read. I thoroughly enjoyed all the different characters and the narration was great. I’ll certainly read more of the authors books.

Big Irish Family with many stories

Overall 3,4 stars.
I have read several Cathy Kelly books and really enjoyed them. Cathy has a gift for portraying real families and their relationships, the good and the bad. This story is about a big Irish family with 4 grown up daughters and their partners or even kids. It took me many chapters to get them all figured out, who is who and what was their story. It felt like too many characters were thrown at me all at once, but I got there eventually and now remember each and everyone of them. Nearly all the daughters also had their own stories, things going on this same week that their parents are getting married again. Several characters have secrets they're hiding and wondering when they come out and how it will affect everyone keeps this story interesting. There were a few special and touching moments, but overall it was a long and gentle story to listen to.

Gripping as all the strands came together

Initially I was attracted to a light hearted story about beautiful people in a lovely place… but this novel is so much more than that! I adored how Kelly gradually delved us deeper into the strands and complexities of each character’s life. It became increasingly gripping, emotive and impossibly to stop listening to! Beautifully narrated by Aoife McMahon. Highly recommended.

Love this narrator

Another good story by Cathy Kelly - love the way the book is read - slightly irritated by the use of ‘bringing’ when it should be ‘taking’ but believe this to be a colloquial trait.
Looking forward to ‘reading’ another one!
