About this listen
At 29, Claire is full of the joys of life - that is, until her husband leaves her on the day she gives birth to her baby. With a broken heart, a beautiful newly born and an expanding mirror image, she decides to visit her eccentric family in Dublin. There she starts to feel better. So much better, in fact, that James is in for a surprise when he decides to slither back into her life.

Great story
One of Keyes'best novels. Funny and well paced, wonderfully read. Long but keeps the reader interested until the last page

Disappointing
Well I finished the book but it was touch and go several times. I think one of the reviews mentioned using americanisms such as diapers which was ridiculous but not as bad as the gratingly pompous voice of James. I found this and the overall stupid naivety of Claire particularly hard-going. Anyway I’ve finished it but I am not keen to read anything else by this author. Sorry - not for me.

Hooked from the first paragraph!
One of the better ones, great story if not a slightly abrupt end. Brilliant narration!!

Narrator's tone too harsh
I didn't enjoy this novel as much as I had the other Marian Keyes novels, and a big part of it was because I couldn't relate to the narration, unfortunately. The narrator was so distant from her character and her voice was so cold and harsh that I really struggled to keep going at times. interestingly, she was more natural and very likeable reading the direct speech. It's a pity as I was very interested in getting to know Claire; I'm quite wary now to listen to the other novel narrated by Gerri Halligan.

Long enough
Good story but found the language a bit much. Humour worth listening for and following.
