About this listen

Some people are born boring. Some live boring. Some even die boring. Fred managed to do all three, and when he woke up as a vampire, he did so as a boring one.

Timid, socially awkward, and plagued by self-esteem issues, Fred has never been the adventurous sort. One fateful night - different from the night he died, which was more inconvenient than fateful - Fred reconnects with an old friend at his high school reunion. This rekindled relationship sets off a chain of events thrusting him right into the chaos of the parahuman world: a world with chipper zombies, truck driver wereponies, maniacal necromancers, ancient dragons, and now one undead accountant trying his best to "survive". Because even after it's over, life can still be a downright bloody mess.

The funniest accountant ever written

Despite the title, this is a highly amusing little tale about 'Fred the Vampire', a rather unfortunate accountant who finds himself dealing with situations that he is rather less than thrilled or equipped to encounter. A delightfully funny and light-hearted story matched perfectly by Mr Heyborn's narration. Certainly one for the bookshelf.

This was pretty decent but nothing spectacular.

This book isn't going to set your world alight or revolutionise the genre for you. It is a fun romp with some decent characters and I enjoyed it.

A lot of reviews mentioned the start of chapter summations as being annoying and they are. You don't need a summary of all the previous chapters when you start a new one. It's not that bad but it was a bit annoying.

The narration was decent too. I thought it was good all round.

really very interesting

should be noted that this is a collection of short continuous stories which can get annoying since there are recaps at the beginning of each story once you get past that though what you have is an interesting, funny and charming story with lots of cool lore highly recommend

Interesting

The amount of research the author has done is astounding. Lots of lore has been weaved into this book and I did enjoy it. The narrator, whilst not unpleasant, was a bit grating. He sounded exactly like an accountant would sound to me. The voices he put on for the female characters was very strange - it sounded like Courtney from Bob's Burgers. Overall though, very good. I will be listening to the series

Easy going story to listen to on background

Unfortunately the vibes were off with comments that came off quite misogynistic. And while the narration was good, and the story would be good to fall asleep to- with the amount of repetition in every new section you won’t miss on anything, when the narrator did all these scary voices it jolted me awake.

Good but nothing to write home about

I liked the idea, the witt and characters. The world is also interesting. What I liked less was the narator. He is ok but something was not quite fitting. He was a little too blase.

impulse buy and didn't disappoint

it's not Shakespeare and not trying to be. some gentle fun narrative with great characters that cracks along. I really enjoyed it.
