Summary
*The thrilling new novel from Lucy Clarke, THE HIKE, is available to buy now*
'A terrific summer read' Richard & Judy
Two sisters, one life-changing journey…
This is a free sample of the first six chapters (of 33) of the novel THE SEA SISTERS, by Lucy Clarke.
There are some currents in the relationship between sisters that run so dark and so deep, it’s better for the people swimming on the surface never to know what’s beneath . . .
Katie’s carefully structured world is shattered by the news that her headstrong younger sister, Mia, has been found dead in Bali – and the police claim it was suicide.
With only the entries of Mia’s travel journal as her guide, Katie retraces the last few months of her sister’s life, and – page by page, country by country – begins to uncover the mystery surrounding her death.
What she discovers changes everything. But will her search for the truth push their sisterly bond – and Katie – to breaking point?
The Sea Sisters is a compelling story of the enduring connection between sisters.

Really gripping and absorbing book
I'm very hard to keep entertained and I do get easily bored with books and abandon ship but this one kept me hooked and I enjoyed it. I liked the narration too. Basically that's how I will judge books from now on do I enjoy the ride and is my add attention captivated or not. If I'm captivated then it's a great read as at least half of the books I get on audible bore me very quickly despite good reviews. No doubt this one will have mixed reviews but for me it was really excellent

Exceptional narrator
I have had such mixed skills among narrators lately, this one was exceptionally good! A good story which was made better in the telling.

An evocative summer listen
This is one of Richard and Judy's Summer reads and it is definitely a perfect summer listen. It's a fairly gripping story and the characterisation is well done. It is set over the course of two sisters seperate journeys travelling around the world and the setting is very evocative. It definitely made me long to pick up a backpack and set off around the world! The only downside is the narrator- her narration was a little hit and miss. Her West country accent comes and goes, sometimes I found her a little too earnest and annoying and yet at other times her narration was quite mesmerising and really did evoke the perfect atmosphere.

Kept my attention but...
The story was an interesting one depicting the complex relationship between sisters with good descriptions of the sea but the narrator spoilt it for me. Her breathy, woeful way of speaking was incredibly irritating and I only kept listening because of the story itself

Sorrow, depressed narration
I am returning this book due to narration. I am sorry to say but I cannot longer listen to the wretched voice after four chapters. There seems to be no pause or comma and the monotonous reading sank the book for me. The storyline sounded interesting but the younger sister got on my nerves with her immature, spoiled personality and behaviour which really made me question why the older sister would care so much. I know it is a fiction but I am really dissapointed to listen to this especially I loved The Castaways from the same author. The Sea Sisters is very different and I cannot listen the depressed narration any longer.
