Summary
The funny, heartbreaking and uplifting new novel from the best-selling author of The Flatshare
Three women. Three dates. One missing man....
8.52. Siobhan's been looking forward to her breakfast date with Joseph. She was surprised when he suggested it - she normally sees him late at night in her hotel room. Breakfast with Joseph on Valentine's Day surely means something...so where is he?
14.43. Miranda's hoping that a Valentine's Day lunch with Carter will be the perfect way to celebrate her new job. It's a fresh start and a sign that her grown-up life is finally falling into place: she's been dating Carter for five months now, and things are getting serious. But why hasn't he shown up?
18.30. Joseph Carter agreed to be Jane's fake boyfriend at a colleague's engagement party. They've not known each other long, but their friendship is fast becoming the brightest part of her new life in Winchester. Joseph promised to save Jane tonight. But he's not here....
Meet Joseph Carter. That is, if you can find him.
The No-Show is the brilliantly funny, heartbreaking and joyful new novel from Beth O'Leary about dating, and waiting, and the ways love can find us. An utterly extraordinary tearjerker of a book, this is O'Leary's most ambitious novel yet.
This audiobook includes an exclusive interview between Beth O'Leary and Evanna Lynch.

Unexpected
Review: I think this is the first of @betholearyauthor ’s books that I’ve read or rather listened. It was narrated by Beth O’Leary, @evannalynch , Heather Long, @kathryndrysdale and Luke Thompson.
I have high expectations for it, after hearing/reading positive reviews regarding her other books. I like that the twists are not actually what I expected. A few chapters in, my thought process was “here we go again, it is a book that’s similar to the movie when a guy dated a few girls and stood them all up on the same day”. Then I became more and more invested in the growth in character of each character in the book, marvelled at how things changed. I love that there was an interview between the author and the narrator too. And the last chapter narrated by another person (Luke Thompson) that really added an extra depth to the character too. I like that there is extra sound effects to reflect that they were having a phone conversation rather than a face to face conversation as well.
The only negative thing that may just be my own fault, I must have not paid enough attention listening to this audiobook as I think I got the timeline mixed up. I wonder if it was clearer if I read the physical book instead

Really enjoyed this book.
I’ve read all of Beth O’Leary‘s books with the Flatshare being my favourite. The Switch and the Road Trip I didn’t find as quite good as the first but this book, although very different, reminds me what an excellent author she is. The tone of the story isn’t similar to her previous ones, a bit more serious and not as light. But if you bear with it for a bit and get into the story it is really good and the twists and surprises are ones you never see coming. This book is funny and sad and relatable. I would definitely recommend it to any of her fans.

Rollercoaster of emotions
This is filled with a rollercoaster of emotions! I felt so upset for all 3 women and as the story presented itself and grew, the feels were just so strong. Very well written and beautifully narratored.

Wow! Another fantastic story from Beth
I was a little dubious when I read the back of the book and wondered how the story would develop. I absolutely loved it. A great read, sensitively written and powerfully driven by the characters.

Sensational story told with great sensitivity
Who could not love the characters in this book? So beautifully drawn and with such wit and a lightness of touch. A "Love Actually" book - always to be remembered.

The narration is fabulous
The narration brought out the best and worst of the characters, and was a real asset to the story. Not sure I'd have enjoyed reading it as much as listening.
