Summary

The Jigsaw Man ranks amongst the very best debut thrillers – we’re talking top-ten territory here – I’ve read this past decade… It evokes, vibrantly and indelibly, a world I’ve never even glimpsed, much less entered – neither in literature nor in life… Matheson’s voice is exciting, urgent… and, now more than ever, vital’ A.J. Finn

‘This modern and multi-layered take on the high-octane thriller keeps the pages turning’ Oprah Daily

‘This book is gruesomely good’ Lesley Kara, Sunday Times bestselling author of The Rumour

‘A spellbinding game of cat and mouse . . . with chilling echoes of Thomas Harris’s The Silence of the LambsDaily Mail

There's a serial killer on the loose.

When bodies start washing up along the banks of the River Thames, DI Henley fears it is the work of Peter Olivier, the notorious Jigsaw Killer. But it can’t be him; Olivier is already behind bars, and Henley was the one who put him there.

The race is on before more bodies are found.

She’d hoped she’d never have to see his face again, but Henley knows Olivier might be the best chance they have at stopping the copycat killer. But when Olivier learns of the new murders, helping Henley is the last thing on his mind . . .

Will it take a killer to catch the killer?

Now all bets are off, and the race is on to catch the killer before the body count rises. But who will get there first – Henley, or the Jigsaw Killer?

oomph!!!!!

You don't see it coming. The impact as the story unfolds and engulfs you is at times overwhelming. Its maybe just me but this is a very, very powerful book. Full of so much that is just wrong about humanity, yet smoothed over with gentle moments. Love, anger, frustration, intrigue, horror, humour I could go on but I'll leave the rest to you. The character of Peter Olivier has an allure that pulls you into his world. Reminiscent of Hector Lector in his ability to charm and disengage your sensibilities. Yes, I loved it but part of me thinks I shouldn't have.

not a wasted credit !

Hope we see another book by this writer and in this series. I initially thought the narration was a bit slow but soon became engrossed in the clever storyline. Great police proceedural writing and although a bit gruesome in places, I didn't want the book to end.

Did he really die?

A great story albeit a little gruesome, I enjoyed all the characters and the adventure, trying to figure out who would be the next unfortunate victim. I look forward to the next episode.

Good listen

Lots of reviews commented on the narrator, I found her easy to listen to. The story line was great but never really felt gripped and was disappointed by the ending. The characters were good and I look forward to the next book in the series and seeing where they go

Dreadful narration

I can’t really rate the book as I had to give up listening. The narrator was so wooden and monotone she sounded like a robot.

*Gruesome*

This was the kind of book that I found compelling after a slow start yet horrific at the same time. This is the first instalment of the DI Anjelica Henley series. It was quite interesting to read a book and know all the areas of London involved.

Anjelica caught an infamous killer nicknamed ‘The Jigsaw Man’. Catching him came with a cost as he left his mark behind causing her to take time off work.

Now she has to balance her marriage, her child, her work and the dangers while her husband fears for her safety back on active duty. With the jigsaw man in prison, things take a turn when a murder happens with a similar style to him.

This book felt like the police were on the back foot all the time and they seem to arrive too late to save a victim. Anjelica and her team are trying to stop the pile up of bodies, then things take a turn when Anjelica comes face to face with her nemesis and the story ends with a big question mark for me. Even though the murders were stomach churning how it ended piqued my interest. Not for the faint hearted.
