Summary

A spellbinding YA fairytale from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kathryn Purdie, breathing new life into folklore and myth – with a touch of magic all her own…

Once upon a time, villagers would whisper their desires to The Book of Fortunes, and its pages would reveal how to obtain them. All was well until someone used the book for evil. Afterward, the branches of the Forest Grimm snatched the book away and the village withered. The villagers tried to make amends with the forest, but every time someone crossed its border, they never returned.

Despite the warning from her fortune-teller grandmother, Clara embarks on the journey into the deadly forest to procure the Book of Fortunes – to reverse the curse and save her mother and village. Clara’s friend Axel puts aside his longing for her to join the journey – the young travellers have set their minds to defying fate and daring to accomplish what no one else has been able to before.

Alas, the forest – alive with dark, deadly twists on some of our most well-known fairy tales – has a mind of its own…

A dark and sparkling tale of romance, courage and magic. Perfect for fans of Holly Black, Leigh Bardugo and Hannah Kaner

Critic reviews

"Kathryn Purdie has bewitched us... Her prose is lovely, evocative, and snaring, and the gripping story of danger enraptures both heart and mind. She takes well-known fairy tales and puts clever, dark twists to them, all amid a real and enchanting setting. I'll go mad waiting for the sequel!" –Charlie N. Holmberg, Wall Street Journal bestselling author of Spellbreaker and The Paper Magician

"Fast-paced and romantic, Kathryn Purdie lured me into a thrilling world where familiar fairytales are turned inside out and nothing is at seems. Once I entered the dark heart of the Forest Grimm, I never wanted to leave." –Mara Rutherford, author of The Poison Season

"Within its first lines, The Forest Grimm promises an adventure with a clever trail of breadcrumbs to guide you. A brave and resolute heroine, an enchanted forest rooted in danger, and a slow-burning friends-to-lovers romance…Kathryn Purdie has written a luminous fairytale, sharp as teeth and full of heart. I devoured every word of this magical tale." –Rebecca Ross, internationally bestselling author of Divine Rivals

Loved it 🥰

It was easy and interesting to listen and voice of the narrator was beautiful. It had some romance, the story has not finished but it didn’t end on terrible cliffhanger. I will listen second book!
