Action packed with a thrilling ending

The Enemy
by A.P. Bateman
narrated by Joe Mills

I received a complimentary audio copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Enemy by A.P. Bateman is Book 18 in the Alex King series, which follows King and his team, who possess a remarkable ability to unearth assassins in the nick of time. This unique sensory ability serves them well as they uncover a plot with depth and complexity that is a threat unlike any seen before. With this threat looming, King has to call upon all his skills to uncover the perpetrator. Their training and experiences enable them to grasp their enemies’ psyche and the inner workings of their minds. They each have the ability to perceive the world through the lens of their foe, which allows them to uncover hidden truths and unravel the tangled web of secrets surrounding “Iron Fist”.

As the narrative unfolds, each character follows a physical and emotional journey. Along the way, they encounter unexpected obstacles and dangerous adversaries, testing their wit and resourcefulness at every turn. Despite these challenges, they remain steadfast, determined to unravel the mysteries buried beneath layers of deception and intrigue. As the story reaches its climax, the team become embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse where the stakes are higher than ever. With each twist and turn, they must rely on instincts and intellect to outmanoeuvre their foes and uncover the truth hidden within the shadows. As they inch closer to unravelling the mystery of Iron Fist, they realize that the answers may lie closer to home than they imagined. In the end, their journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit.

I applaud the author for their creativity, and on reaching the end, the beginning makes a lot more sense. I listened to the audio version narrated by Joe Mills, which was a pleasure. He brought each character to life with what seemed like effortless accent switches. He was the unseen storyteller who made the characters jump off the page and into my imagination. This requires a deep understanding of the text and the ability to interpret the author’s intentions and convey them through vocal expression. The use of added background sound to heighten the experience was a huge bonus.
For those who love action-packed reads with thrilling endings, I highly recommend The Enemy. I am looking forward to discovering the next instalment.
