About this listen
When women are denied the rest they need - whether from social pressures and obligations, wanting to do too much in too little time, or a deeply rooted sense of guilt - they are cut off from the true source of their power. In her debut book, Daring to Rest, Karen Brody came to the rescue of worn-out women everywhere with a transformative program for reclaiming rest through yoga nidra, the art of conscious relaxation. This new release presents her groundbreaking 40 day program in audio form, complete with teachings, practices, and guided meditations.

BEWARE - Chapter 19 - rape story
Please please please, can you put some kind of warning on the audio version of this book that this chapter includes a heartbreaking rape and violent attack story? I only knew about this myself from reading other reviews, but didn’t know which chapter it was. I settled down to relax and listen - in bed - and was suddenly confronted by this. I am a yoga and a nidra teacher - I am also a survivor of rape. This was extremely triggering and I feel it is very irresponsible to not include a warning for listeners.
This is a lovely book and tool, however listeners are coming to this for relaxation and this story is quite unexpected especially when listeners have opened themselves to a receptive state.

incredible
im on meditation 3 of day 16 and i cannot believe what a gift this journey is. it is so sensitively and thoughtfully arranged. going so deeply into healing the chakrah system each 5 days. using really somatic principles of feeling it in the body therefore not just making it a head/cognitive journey. it really is bringing in change. so grateful! my energy levels are good. i feel organised commited and goal orientates yet rested. calmer. i look forward to each day. thank you Karen Brody.
i have had to listen to chapter 3 quite a few times to understand what to do getting a little confused - would be great to have a check list (meditation 1 for 5 days, meditation 2 for mext 5 days etc...) but i percevered and it deepened my experience.

not enough silence in the meditations to answer the questions she asks
I love yoga nidra, particularly hour long ones on YouTube (not so much the visualisation style ones). this is a good book for a beginner, but personally the style of these is not my favourite of those out there. not spacious enough. a little more like a guided body scan relaxation technique with thought provoking questions thrown in. perhaps those with more practiced communication with their inner selves might find this style works for them, but I need more time to feel into my body than is given in these meditations. Holly, 33.
