About this listen
Renegade sea captain Ryan Coleraine is persuaded to accompany the adventurous Raveneau family to Regency London to spy for America during the War of 1812. The sardonic Coleraine must take the place of their son, who is in the West Indies, and pretend to be a fop. Lindsay Raveneau, a beautiful and independent bluestocking, finds herself with a "brother" who challenges and arouses her in the most unsettling ways...
Danger, intrigue, and forbidden passion mount as Ryan and Lindsay carry their daring masquerade to the elegant drawing rooms of Regency society. Adding to the tensions are Lindsay's parents - Andre and Devon Raveneau from Silver Storm - who must attempt to chaperone their daughter and her " brother" under their own roof!

loved it
Loved the story would have enjoyed it much more with a better narrator like Tim Campbell. Emily Beresford's voice for the men wasn't very good. Especially Ryan's 33yo and Andre's 63yo, were quite awful, most of the time they sounded like 15yo boys, at other times like 17yos. Their voices definitely didn't sound like their description. But I still think it was worth a credit as I love Cynthia Wright's stories. Now on to the next one if the series and I'm pleased to say that Tim Campbell will be narrating it.

Emotional, Exciting, Wonderful.
Where does Surrender the Stars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This audio book ranks highly as do all the audio books I have of Cynthia Wright's that are narrated by Emily Beresford. Author and Narrator make the perfect team because Cynthia writes the perfect story, and Emily puts the voices to the characters that really brings them to life. It was a real pleasure to listen to this story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Surrender the Stars?
One of the most memorable moments for me is when Ryan and Lindsey share their first kiss. There are many memorable moments in the book, but to say anymore would be to give too many spoilers.
Have you listened to any of Emily Beresford’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have only listened to Emily's narrations of Cynthia Wright's books. Each of them as I mentioned before are perfect. Emily is definitely one of my favourite female narrators.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would have loved to have listened to this book in one sitting but as it is over 10 hours long, there is no way I could have done it. I listened to it over 3 nights and the two nights that I had to turn it off I really didn't want to.
Any additional comments?
I recommend this audio book, a wonderful story, beautifully and clearly narrated, and a pleasure to listen to.

Dreadful narration
Dreadful dreadful narration. It’s taken me 3 attempts to listen to this, I couldn’t get past the horrendous narrator’s dreadful pronunciation’s of British things, and as for the sad attempt at an Irish accent it was laughable.do Americans really believe that the British upper class talk the way Ryan did when he was supposed to be a fop. The author should be ashamed to even let this pass as acceptable, or do they not prove an audible recording.
