Summary
Three of Lord Peter Wimsey's most baffling cases demonstrate his unique detection skills at their most spectacular.
The engima of a house numbered thirteen in a street of even numbers; an indignant child accused of theft; a dream about a game of chess that uncovers the true story behind a violent death. Each of the stories introduces a different side of the twentieth century's most ingenious detective hero.

Too short
Great stories but Poor value for money because it is too short. Price should be reduced.

Interesting Dorothy L Sayers shorter works despite mispronunciations
Clever cameos but, as often seems to be the case, no guidance to the narrator regarding mispronunciations. “Breedon”, De’Ath” and “Baylee-ol” I think, not Bredon to rhyme with Ned, Death as in dead or Balliol as in ballet. Oxford University will be displeased.

Poor Narrator
It's a very good book and I liked the biographical notes but the choice of Jane McDowell as narrator was a mistake. Her reading was stilted and uncomfortable to listen to and it spoiled what would otherwise have been a good book.

unwanted autobiography
starts at chapter 2 rather had another story, usual wimsey magic but too short, far two few stories of this gentle man, pleased to see the new ones, cleaverly penned in his usual style

Striding Folly
This is a great collection of three short stories. Read brilliantly by Jane McDowell.

Great stories but questionable reading
I enjoyed the 3 short stories and the lengthy preface contains interesting information. However if you’re used to the dulcet tones of Ian Carmichael as Lord Peter, a female voice narrating may grate a little, particularly the pronunciation of the name ‘Bredon’ as ‘bred-on’ rather than the anticipated ‘bree-dun’. Generally good, but not my favourite reading.

wimsey
I miss Ian Carmichael's narrating but it was still read beautifully. I enjoyed the characterisation used.
