About this listen

Special low price for a limited period to discover Paul Finch’s debut crime novel.

Time’s up. You’re Next.

"All he had to do was name the woman he wanted. It was that easy. They would do all the hard work."

Detective Sergeant Mark 'Heck' Heckenburg is investigating the disappearance of 38 different women. Each one was happy and successful until they vanished without a trace.

Desperate to find her missing sister, Lauren Wraxford seeks out Heck’s help. Together they enter a seedy underworld of gangsters and organised crime.

But when they hear rumours about the so-called 'Nice Guys Club' they hit a brick wall. They're the gang that no one will talk about. Because the Nice Guys can arrange anything you want. Provided you pay the price…

Dark, terrifying and unforgettable. Stalkers will keep fans of Stuart MacBride and Katia Lief looking over their shoulder.

Great listen!!!

Brilliant, 1st ever audio book, can't wait to start the next one. highly recommend Paul Finch and the D.S Heckenburg thrillers. very well narrated by Paul Thornley, couple of dodgy regional accents in parts but overall that can be forgiven. Great listen!!

Decent enough story but could do with editing

I chose this book because I like Paul Thornley's narration. He seems to choose the "easy listening" kind of books that are good for commuting. Another reviewer mentioned that the narration was monotonous but I disagree. The story was somewhat farfetched but still intriguing enough to listen to the end. I did, however, get the feeling that the publishers possibly put pressure on authors to populate these kind of thrillers with good looking characters who are inevitably attracted to each other even though this adds nothing to the narrative. Or perhaps the author thinks it would be easier to sell the book? Either way, I wish they would stop and just stick to telling a good story.

A Cliffhanger to the end...

If you could sum up Stalkers in three words, what would they be?

gripping and twisting storyline

What other book might you compare Stalkers to, and why?

Some of Stephen Leathers Dan Shepherd series

Which character – as performed by Paul Thornley – was your favourite?

All of them... Paul is superb to listen to...

Any additional comments?

I had never heard of Paul Finch (sorry) and only picked this book for the reader (Paul Thornley). But wow! was I hooked right from the beginning. It has some surprising twists and turns, and I loved Heck, who was ruthless, but caring.... funny but serious.... altogether a very complex character, which all adds to the suspense. Well worth downloading, but dont start listening if you have only limited time.... you wont be able to switch it off!

I liked it all - couldn't stop listening - will follow Paul Finch in future. Loved narrator - really easy to listen to - hope he does other Finch books.

enjoyable, scary, dark

This is the second book I have listened to by narrator Paul thornley and I have to say he is fantastic, very listenable voice. he is very got with character voices. The story by Paul Finch is gripping in some place predictable in others. but over all he portraits dark and disturbing world that in this day and age is probably not far from the truth. very entertaining strong plot. 1 bad point to the book the character lauren is a little off not sure if it is the way it's read or that she is from Yorkshire and so am I she little just felt off.

Introducing DC Mark Heckenburg

This book introduces DC Mark Heckenburg, a member of the Serious Crime Squad, who has a bee in his bonnet about missing woman cases - 38 of them. Told to shut down his investigation, Heck takes on the task of solving the cases himself.

A good book with a disturbing premise at its centre.

This is more like it! Mills & Boon it aint!

Would you listen to Stalkers again? Why?

Probably not, because I now know what happens.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Stalkers?

Cant say as would be a huge spoiler!

What does Paul Thornley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He is GOOD! Sometimes more like a radio play than an audio book - Perfect. Nothing grated & enjoyed it much more with him reading than would have in the printed word.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

No idea

Any additional comments?

Have had so many duff supposedly "crime & thrillers" lately that are more Mills & Boon than a thriller. This is more like it; have now bought & am listening to the next in the series: Sacrifice, read again by Paul Thornley. No disappointment so far!
