Summary

From the bestselling author of DEFCON One comes an explosive techno-thriller.

While Congress debates the merits of continued funding for the stealth bomber, sinister forces have their own goals in mind. During a training exercise, a B-2 bomber disappears. When search efforts produce no evidence that the bomber crashed, the US Air Force has no choice but to acknowledge that one of its most secret and high-tech aircraft has been hijacked.

Recovery of the B-2 and its crew becomes the president's highest priority, and the Kremlin claims no knowledge of the missing aircraft. Finally, intelligence leads to what at first seems a very unlikely suspect: Cuba. But could the tiny nation pull off a theft of this magnitude? And what might its plans be for the highly sought-after aircraft? Getting the answers to these questions becomes the top-secret mission for CIA agent Steve Wickham, for without those answers, only one solution will remain: invasion. And if the US invades, World War III will certainly follow.

Mediocre thriller

This book was OK, but nothing special. I have read very similar stories, but from better authors. For me, the narrative bounced around far too much between characters, and there were a lot of them! It looked for a while like the CIA agent Wickham was going to be the central character, but in the end, his story only took a small portion of the story.

The reading performance was very good.

I'm glad this book was included in my Audible subscription for free, because I would have been disappointed had I paid for it.

Fascination for geeks

An engaging tale that’s grabs you and keeps you. The narrator was first class and I started searching for other books by the same narrator. Awesome work, now for more.

great story, bad performance

The author have mastered a great story, but unfortunately the narrator destroys much by aggressively overdoing dialects, and especially making russians sound like dimwits.

Frustrating Narrator, story quite good

I usually like this kind of story. Military, suspense, thriller etc. The characters were ok, some better than others which isn’t so unusual. Story premise was good, but the author writes as though he’s desperate to be a fighter pilot or engineering nerd! I don’t need to know who manufactured every engine used on every plane, just like the narrator doesn’t need to sound like a drunk for every Russian or Cuban accent, and to make a couple of pilots sound like a John Wayne with a low IQ didn’t work.

It probably doesn’t sound like it, but I followed the story and enjoyed it & still wanted to know how it finished, despite the narration. Oh and to burn things they don’t get ‘lighted’ … they get ‘lit’!!

Ruined by narration

A good story but some of the dialogue from supposedly military characters just doesn't convince, which isn't helped by the narration, which make them sound like country bumpkins.

Good story BUT

The narration is truly awful. sounds like a drunk person swinging between happy and aggressive. I was a struggle to listen to the end.
Very " God Bless America"

Reasonable storyline

Not bad storyline but author is way to interested in the technical side of the aircraft and weapons which spoiled the tension of the battle

Terrible narration and too much technical detail

I mostly enjoyed the story but there was excessive technical detail about the planes. Worst narrator I’ve heard on audible! The accents were terrible. With a better narrator and bit of editing would be a decent story
