About this listen
In 2061 a young scientist invents a time machine to fix a tragedy in his past. But his good intentions turn catastrophic when an early test reveals something unexpected: the end of the world.
A desperate plan is formed: recruit three heroes, ordinary humans capable of extraordinary things, and change the future.
Safa Patel is an elite police officer, on duty when Downing Street comes under terrorist attack. As armed men storm through the breach, she dispatches them all.
'Mad' Harry Madden is a legend of the Second World War. Not only did he complete an impossible mission - to plant charges on a heavily defended submarine base - but he also escaped with his life.
Ben Ryder is just an insurance investigator. But as a young man, he witnessed a gang assaulting a woman and her child. He went to their rescue and killed all five.
Can these three heroes, extracted from their timelines at the point of death, save the world?

Holy Sh1t this needs making into a movie!
What did you like most about Extracted?
Brilliant pacing, great characters, laugh out loud humour (sorry fellow train travellers) and real moments of not wanting this to end.
Any additional comments?
This truly needs making into a movie, although, of course, the movie is never as good as the book :)

Superb
Short and to the point review.
This and The Martian are the only two books so far that i've given a perfect score to.
The writing, plot and race are exceptional in this book. The authors ability to convey raw human emotion is fantastic.
That coupled with a brilliant narrator make this an absolute must for anyone who likes well written intelligent sci-fi.

Initial Review
3 chapters in and enthralled. The author must have a time machine and visited 2022 as he definitely modelled the PM on the current (but due to be evicted next month) occupant of No 10 almost down to WT Friday yet book published in 2017.
Now 18 chapters in and still enthralled.

Truely brilliant
Fantastically read, with superb range of accents and personalities, this old concept which we all know, time travel, brought to life with a fresh modern realistic story. Well done, can't wait to get the whole series.
Wonderful British humour, superb comical timing by the storyteller and story reader. Creds!

Five Stars
Great story - the characters have depth, the storyline keeps you listening. Great narration - voices clearly defined so no confusion about who is who. Can’t wait to start Part Two!

This is a long story but I'm invested
This is part one, and what could have been condensed down into a few hours really. However I think the level of detail is warranted to give you a real sense of the people and the issues they face, the questions they inevitably ask and the magnitude of the situation they find themselves. I'm immediately downloading Part 2 so must go....

amazing narration, forgot it was a trilogy..
was expecting a faster pace, but I enjoyed it enough to find the sequel. Narration is genuinely excellent, and told in a way that takes you to every moment and emotion with the characters.

Isn't a standalone novel...
It's a cynical ploy to make you buy the series. Better serialised novels deliver good standalone stories, with other threads that tie the other novels together. This sets up characters and main plot line but then just stops. That said, the performance is outstanding (he really does create different personalities with his voice), the characters are interesting and the story is OK even though the 'cliffhanger' ending is just the end of a chapter.
