Summary
From USA Today bestselling author HJ Bellus comes an unexpected and gut-wrenching tale that will have your heart beating with anticipation.
Our shadows are always there.
They entertain us when we're little, just like best friends.
As we grow older, they grow with us. Even through the darkness they stay, never leaving our side.
They watch.
They listen.
They know all our secrets. Endure our pain. Their silence remains while only rumors drift in the wind.
Soon our shadows turn from friend to foe. They become the monster starring in our nightmares, a temptress of hell reminding us what it feels like to burn.
Shadows are the demons that tear our souls apart. They never let go, and they never allow us to forget.
Everyone has a shadow.
I just buried mine.

hits hard
This book hits you in the feels. From rage to joy and every emotion in between. The small town gossip train is a nasty beast along with the secrets it carries. The author nails small town life and the characters flawlessly and the narrators brought it all to life

Very well done
The writing is superb, and I admire all the characters. I gave it 4 stars because the book did not mature as I thought it would. I was really hoping the romance would blossom into physical intimacy, but it did not, at least not from a descriptive perspective. I expected this theme based on the cover chosen, because the book’s description is vague. Additionally, I think it is important for this storyline to address and delve into the struggles and triumphs of intimacy. I would recommend for those interested in stories about revenge and overcoming childhood abuse generally, but not for those looking for a story about navigating intimacy after enduring such horrific abuse. The narration was outstanding.
