Summary
It's a long-awaited homecoming—but not everyone's happy about her return.
Five years ago, Tilly Taylors father did something that cost her everything. Her home. Her friends. And all the trust she'd ever earned. Now she's back, and ready to prove to everyone that she's nothing like Martin Taylor. Unfortunately, the small town of Misty Peak doesn't forgive or forget so easily. And when a murder occurs at Tilly's new workplace, proving her innocence gets even harder.
Kayden Walker likes his solitude. That's why working in the mountains suits him so well. They're his sanctuary. His safe place. So when a woman he doesn't trust is hired to work alongside him, its an adjustment he doesn't want to make. Only, no matter how much he tries to keep Tilly at a safe distance, he cant seem to get her sad green eyes out of his head. Despite their families' unfortunate history, Kayden finds himself playing savior to the last woman he should want to protect.
When dangerous things continue happening in his mountains, keeping her close becomes vital—for Tilly's safety and for Kayden's heart. Someone doesn't want her home—and they'll go to great lengths to make sure she's gone.

Fabulous romantic dust!
It happens every time I listen to Nyssa Kathryn. I am completely captivated and lose sleep just so I can hear what happens next! This is a fantastic, action packed, romantic suspense. First off, we have Tilly, coming home to Misty Peaks after the death of her mother. They had left town after her father had a ponzi scheme in town, leaving the community broke including his own family. Now she is back facing the ridicule and reputation of his actions. Kayden's family is one that was effected and at first, he too felt that anger towards Tilly, but quickly comes to realize she was not to blame. And while all this is going on, there is a robbery and a murder on the mountain! Of course there is speculation. Is Tilly back to help her father? Could there be a connection between the murder and Tilly? As their relationship struggles to get off the ground, more danger is lurking.Who is doing this? This is a roller coaster of a ride that is for sure! Tilly is a strong woman, able to let the disdain from others roll off her back for the most part. Her love for Kayden helps her through. Kayden is a tough one, not trusting easily, and he finds it hard to follow his heart. Add in his brothers and co-workers and it's a blast getting to know all the people in this small town. And I adore his niece! Can't wait to her the next one, sure to win my heart again.
Avery Caris and Jason Clarke are the narrators for this story and all I can say is WOW. Caris is amazing at keeping Tilly's emotions balanced. She is so strong and has so much to give, with Caris using her voice to bring it all out. Clarke is the frustrating yet undeniably easy to love Kayden. He gives him all the confusion, anger and love that makes this man real. I loved this pairing and can't wait to hear them together in the future.

Duet narration
I love audiobooks that are recorded as a duet, they just pull you into the story so much more. The narrators do an excellent job of voicing all the characters and making sure that all the emotions are felt.
I would absolutely listen to audiobooks with Avery Caris & Jason Clarke again.
We met Tilly and Kayden in Reckless Hope as Tilly returned to the town her father betrayed. She was hoping that they wouldn't hold her responsible for her fathers crimes, but some folk just can't separate the two.
Tilly was so strong, determined to make a life in a place that didn't seem to want her around. Kayden was a bit hot and cold with her as he worked through his feelings, trying to separate what her father did to his family - and not always succeeding. It took a while to warm up to him as the MMC.
I loved how a few things were going on to keep the suspense going; murder, break-ins, harrassment. Was everything connected or not, who was doing what and who could you trust - it kept me turning the pages for sure.

An Amazing & Mesmerizing Story & Listen🎧
Nyssa Kathryn blows me away with another amazing novel “Reckless” series, a romantic suspense that keeps you thinking and brings you to the edge of your seat. The story grabbed my attention, captivating it the entire time, and nothing around me mattered except what was going to happen next. Matilda “Tilly” Taylor returned to her childhood home in Misty Peak after her mother’s passing, and she wanted the comfort of home and the memories it brought her. She and her mom left after her father, Martin, scammed and stole from locals who gave them grief. Neither she nor her mother was involved or aware of his scheme, yet they blamed them too and several of them still do and give Tilly a hard time making her feel like an outcast. Kayden Walker’s dad was one of Martin Taylor’s victims and he lost everything, including their childhood home, so he finds it difficult to not hate on his daughter, who he needs to see at work. Kayden had trust issues to begin with, but his walls crumple when he sees how Tilly is being treated by the other townsfolk. I loved how everything played out in this book, also loved the depth and all the layers of this story, as well as the complexity of the characters. As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. The chemistry between them is smoking hot, and I thought they were great together and for each other. Besides the relationship drama and the hate she is dealing with, there is a murder investigation going on, a murder that hit close to home and then her father who is on the run tries to reach out to her after not speaking to him for over five years. This exciting and action packed romantic suspense has the perfect balance of heart and heat. Nyssa Kathryn, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Avery Caris and Jason Clarke deliver an outstanding performance, bringing the characters to life, humanizing them, giving each a voice that was fitting to their personality and demeanor. I loved how they owned their roles, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Caris’ Tilly was perfection and Clarke was just as amazing as Kayden, and both were equally wonderful in performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These mega talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevated this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Beautifully written, emotional, and engaging!
This is the second book in the Reckless Series, a Small Town Romance. This is a standalone in an interconnected series. I love this series! Kayden and Tillie's story is beautifully written, emotional, and engaging. Tillie is beautiful, strong, and determined. Kayden is enigmatic, and protective. The storyline is filled with mystery, danger, intrigue, and twists and turns. The plot is well crafted, and interesting. The supporting characters are great. I can't wait for Eastern's story. His daughter Avery is adorable! Jason Clarke and Avery Caris did an excellent job bringing these characters and this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Reckless Fall, the next book in the series.
