Take charge of your menopause and feel great.
Dr Louise Newson is the UK's leading menopause specialist, and she's determined to help women thrive during the menopause.
Despite being something that almost every woman will experience at some point in their lives, misdiagnosis, misinformation and stigma are commonplace. In Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause, Dr Newson demystifies the menopause and shows why every woman should be perimenopause aware, regardless of their age.
Drawing on new research and empowering patient stories from a diverse range of women who have struggled to secure adequate treatment and correct diagnosis, Dr Newson will equip you with expert advice on:
- Common and 'taboo' symptoms to look out for
- HRT treatment options
- Going through an early menopause
- Getting a good night sleep
- Optimising your nutrition in the menopause
- Exercising for a better menopause
- Your mental health during the menopause
Dr Newson empowers women to confidently take charge of their health and their changing bodies. It's never too early to learn about the perimenopause or menopause, and this essential book will equip you with everything you need to know.

Amazing !
Answered my questions I had but my GP never has time to enable me to answer and explains clearly how and why to take HRT - a great evidence based listen and product you know you can trust the information from. Have recommended this book to 3 of my friends whose symptoms were described in this book and ignored or dismissed by there GP and fertility doctor. Brilliant book!

generalised and suitable for various stages
overall this was of huge benifit to me.
there are sections I need more info on specific to my health conditions. i do think lack of research will limit this e.g. cancer risks and HRT for fallopian tube removal, scar tissue etc.
a lot was not aplicable but i would say is useful as background info should i need to advise or inform friends.
some of the chapters e.g. minduflness techniques you can skip and use when situation requires.
for more detailed info on nutrition or exercises elements please look at more specialist authors, which I will be doing. it was useful has an inclusion for those with limited knowledge but the basis of a balanced, healthy diet and weight bearing exercises should be adhered whatever sex or age in my view.
i am casting the previous reviewer aside in terms of "sucking eggs" attitude on some sextions. i think its wrong to assume everyone has that knowledge.
treat this as a generalised overview of symptom identidication, treatment views, dr appoitment prep and lifestyle management.
i am not sure of there is a slight HRT bias so i will be looking at more impartial lit from different authors to have a wider view.
the narrator was efficient in relaying the content, i was enaged and did not find any annoying tones etc.
i am 39 and in fake post meno due to fertility and weight issues.

Informative and to the point
This was just what I was looking for: informative and full of facts rather than emotion. The author is clear about what she believes is the right route for most women, giving good advice as to how to approach things an weigh treatment options up for yourself. I will also be looking for an equally factual book from other points of view but somehow doubt I will find one which is equally unimpassioned, I mean that in a positive sense. There is a lot of misinformation out there but I believe this. Very helpful, thank you
