lm inspired
This was an unexpected and amaxing audio book. Lisa could have been speaking about me. So much of what she said resonated. This was a book written by a woman for women that touched on a subject that isn't often talked about positively. The menopause was seen as something that made us feel old and past it but we are absolutely not. As Lisa said we are just getting started.

Some useful information
Some not so useful! It was good for making me realise the cause of some of the weird ailments, aches and pains I’ve feeling but bless Lisa, she obviously has time and money on her side!! I’d love an expensive facial to make me feel more like myself again and when I get up at 5am, it’s so I can rush around like a mad thing and get to work on time, not so I can have an hour’s walk and lovely breakfast or take a Pilates class.
As I say, some of it’s helpful, some is plain kooky (I laughed out loud at the thought of my husband’s face if I suggested sage smudging the house!) and some is for the ladies of leisure and means ;)

A book of two halves
I have never been a huge Lisa Snowdon Fan, I don’t dislike her, she’s just never been on my radar. Until I started researching Menopause and her name kept popping up as a recommendation. I was keen to learn more about negotiating my way through mid life so bought the book.
Part One is Lisa’s Biography, which was ok but lacked anything of any substance. Part 2 was filled with hints, tips and how to’s, a guide on surviving mid life. As an audiobook this didn’t work very well. Very list orientated and jumped from one subject to another. It was extremely preachy in parts, in an ideal world we’d all have a PT, eat nuts and seeds for breakfast, have morning coffee in the local coffee shop and furnish our skin with the most extravagant oils and potions but alas I’m on the budget trial subscription here and I can just afford the basics. It would have been nice to have recognised the fact that not everyone is lucky enough to have her lifestyle or access to private medical treatment or alternative therapies. There was very little content on her personal experience with Peri Menopause and Menopause, it could’ve gone a lot deeper and been more informative. Instead there was a whole cringy chapter on Sex (Ewww it was like listening to your Sex Ed teacher in school). I’m no prude but I found it unnecessary to hear about her own sex life. I was also a little surprised at the one sided chapter on how men can support their partners through the menopause. Lisa’s partner was very supportive which is great but it didn’t give a good representation of how most males see the menopause. We needed a bit of shade, a second opinion if you will. Well done to George for being so understanding and informed
.
Probably better as a book you can dip in and out of rather than an audio book. If you want a menopause manual then read Davina, Dr Mindy or listen to Diary of a CEO.

Good listen from someone else’s perspective and feels positive
Good to hear about menopause from another perspective and I really like Lisa snowdon as a person presenter and from her model days. Especially liked the part about weight gain diet and better alcohol options. I liked the overall message about looking after yourself but also felt sad as her feelings from her youth resonated with me a lot. But made me think it’s ok to think back and not to worry. I enjoyed reading it. She didn’t try and suggest you do everything she does but offers options and to think about your routine. Other books have made me feel overwhelmed with suggested routines diets etc but this felt like a chat with a friend.

A very informative book, perfectly narrated making it very easy to take it all in.....which, when menopausal, is no mean feat!!
