OVER HALF A MILLION COPIES OF APPLE TREE YARD SOLD

The novel from Sunday Times bestselling author

Platform Seven at 4am: Peterborough Railway Station is deserted. The man crossing the covered walkway on this freezing November morning is confident he's alone. As he sits on the metal bench at the far end of the platform it is clear his choice is strategic - he's as far away from the night staff as he can get.

What the man doesn't realise is that he has company. Lisa Evans knows what he has decided. She knows what he is about to do as she tries and fails to stop him walking to the platform edge.

Two deaths on Platform Seven. Two fatalities in eighteen months - surely they're connected?

No one is more desperate to understand what connects them than Lisa Evans herself. After all, she was the first of the two to die . . .

Best book of 2022!!

This book is a fictional story which cleverly takes you, as an observer, into the dark places that some people inhabit. That maybe, at some time, many of us have experienced in our lives either personally or as a bystander. Yet despite its dark subjects it brings with it hope, peace, and understanding. It is rare that I read a book more than once, but I am sure this will be one of those exceptions.

very believable story line

So believable that for all I know, it could have sadly been based on really life events.

Not sure what happened

This is essentially a story about domestic abuse and how easy it is to get sucked into an abusive relationship

Well worth a read

The story was original ,very clever but not for everyone. I can understand why some people rated this low but personally I enjoyed the story but the middle went on for to long. Excellent narrator.

Excellent

I’ve read hundreds of books, but this had me transfixed. Very satisfying end which is often not the case. I shall look for others by this author

Difficult to score

Sometimes very uncomfortable listening and probably too long for the content - but interesting and I certainly wanted to hear how it ended.

Excellent, moving, unusual

It took a while to get into this book I nearly gave up after two hours of Lisa on platform seven, however I am so glad I persevered. This book on every level is very clever, its about coercive relationships at different levels. It is edgy and does not necessarily give the reader what you might want but that is what makes it so interesting. At the start as a listener I could not imagine how the strands could come together they seemed so random however the author brings them together beautifully. This is a cleverly crated superior novel and one I struggled to pause.

Flabby middle

A good editor could have turned this into a really good novel. This is the first time I recall skipping to the end of any novel but I genuinely wanted to know about the other characters rather than wade through every boring pedestrian moment of the main character’s relationship. (Yes I got the point that the drip, drip effect of seemingly mundane actions can still be abusive.) Missed opportunity for a great idea / voice.

FOUND THIS VERY ENGAGING...

In the end a simple story very well told as it weaves it's way along...really enjoyed it and the narrator's performance. Second I've read of hers and will look forward with anticipation to her next.
