Summary
My little boy’s room was empty, his bed neatly made. Alarm bells should have rung immediately. Then the knock on the door came. All I remember is a thick fog wrapping itself tightly around me. This couldn’t be happening to us.
Three years ago, nurse Zoe's son Ethan was found drowned in a muddy river by their home, along with his best friend, Josh. With no witnesses, their deaths were ruled a tragic accident.
Heartbroken, Zoe and her family move away from her home. They’re just beginning to get back to some kind of normality when, out of the blue, Zoe receives an anonymous email: "You need to find out the truth about what happened to your son. Don’t let this rest. Don’t believe the lie."
Shaken, Zoe starts an obsessive hunt for the truth. But why is her husband so reluctant to help? And why is Josh’s mother so determined not to believe her?

Gripping book
I enjoyed this book and didn't expect the trust at the end. Highly recommended. Great narration too.

Absolutely fantastic author!!
I’ve yet to not like one of Kathryn’s audiobooks, I only listen to books these days so I can listen continuously/even whilst doing housework!! This one was no exception, I love how it teases you all the way through to guess the ending! This one didn’t disappoint! Just downloaded “The Suspect” it’s my third book by this author- Back to back!! I finish one and download another.

Narration
I personally did not like the narration of this book. Her voice/ accent jarred on my ear. It felt false.

secrets are dangerous
Enjoyed the build up from a tragic event, through the collapse of relationships due to falsehoods and secrets being exposed to the explosive final events. A truly convoluted tale to keep one guessing.

Interesting plot
I enjoyed the plot of the story however my enjoyment was spoiled somewhat by the ridiculous narration of the male characters

Ok
Mixed feelings, the female narrator was quite off putting, but I stuck with it, and although the story possibly a tad too long and some of the characters seemed pointless and added nothing to the story, it kept me listening and wanting to know what happened

A parents nightmare
As a parent, the responsibility of looking after a child’s friend is a big deal. When a terrible accident resulted in the death of the two young lads, why did Josh’s parents not blame Zoe, was it because they knew it wasn’t her fault.
The story unfolds and I’m convinced I know the answer, but just when I think I’m getting close, another character shows their true colours. Really enjoyed this story. Will look for more by this author.
