Summary
Not all secrets are meant to be kept.
After two stressful months, Amber Blackwood is determined to have a few weeks of peace before the Here and Meow Festival descends on her small town of Edgehill, Oregon. That peace doesn’t last long.
When she and the committee attend a meeting at the mayor’s house, Amber is pulled aside by the mayor’s daughter Chloe, who Amber babysat for in high school. The mayor has forbidden Chloe from dating, but she recently met an older boy through a chat app and is desperate to meet him. Amber advises Chloe to tell her father about the boy.
Hours later, Mayor Deidrick frantically puts in a call to Amber. Chloe, the always well-behaved teenager, seems to have snuck out her bedroom window, and now, she’s not answering his calls.
When Amber helps search the town for the girl, she happens upon Chloe’s abandoned car. Her driver’s side door is open, and while her purse is inside, her phone is gone. Working alongside Chief Brown, Amber uses her magic to figure out what might have happened to Chloe.
The more they dig, the more they unearth secrets from the seemingly affable mayor’s past. The charismatic politician has both a hair-trigger temper and a suspicious death linked to his past.
As if the mayor’s increasingly strange behavior isn’t bad enough, Amber and the chief also contend with an out-of-town private investigator, nosy reporter Connor Declan, and an even nosier population of Edgehill residents who start to question why Amber and the chief are spending so much time together.
Undaunted by these obstacles, Amber races against the clock to help ensure Chloe doesn’t become another statistic - assuming the mayor doesn’t stop her first.

Purrrect
I adore these books, and this story wasn't the exception, it's really easy to listen, fast paced, good storyline which kept my interest throughout it, it's light and funny.
Amber is a great character and I like seeing how she grows more confident with her magic with each book. All the characters are great, I really like the "friendship" that is forming between the chief and Amber, they're so funny together. Edgar is another character that I want to see more of, now that he's letting Amber "drag" him out of his house I want to see what's in store for him.
And OMG Jack remembers everything that happened, I was so excited, but also weary, I need to know what will happen with him and Amber....
The narration was perfect, I really love Victoria Villarreal performance, is pretty awesome.

Pawsitively great fun
I really enjoyed this book. This is the third book in this Great series and even though there are stand alone books I would recommend that you listen to them all because they are fun and you are missing out on a real treat otherwise. I like the characters and the fact that only one person in the small town knows her secret and the problems it causes or leads to. The author has a great imagination and this is show cased in the town with all the cat names for the shops but and she describes the the town and characters so well that you feel like you are there too and with it being a small town we have meet several of the characters in the previous book, which makes them feel like old friends. The mystery was good and I liked it the way it kept you guessing and the use of the magic was fun and I agree with the main character that they should have there own tv show. I am looking forward to the next book.
While planning the biggest event of the year that the town holds The Here and Meow festival, Amber is pulled to.the side and asked for advice about dating by the girl she use to babysit for, who also happens to be the only daughter of the town's mayor. That night she receives a frantic phone call from the father. The father daughter talk Amber encouraged didn't go well and the teenage girl has climb out the window and disappeared. When the storm blows over and she still hasn't turned up the mayor rallies the town in a search for her. Amber and police chief Brown start with the abandoned car and with the use of magic find a startling discovery, her cell phone tells it own story. The Mayor they all through they new disappears and revels a new side to the man. Is it just worry over his daughter or is the rumours about his dead wife true? Did his daughter have reasons to fear him? And what about the private investigator that is paying a little bit to much attention to Amber? Who hired him? And why is he really at Edgehill? Amber will have to work hard to keep her secrets quiet, while uncovering some else's. It the answer for the girls disappearance connected to the past or with the dating app she used? The festival must go on but will Amber find the missing girl before she has to pretend to enjoy the festivities and competitions the town has planned.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job with bringing the story to life and each character has there own unique voice.
