About this listen
One Sunday morning, the outspoken speaker of the House of Commons steps out of his front door only to be crushed under a mountain of citrus fruit. Bizarre accident or something more sinister? The government needs to know because here's a man whose knowledge of parliament’s biggest secret could put the future of the government at stake.
It should be the perfect case for Bryant and May and the Peculiar Crimes Unit, but unfortunately one detective is in hospital, the other is missing and the staff have all been dismissed. It seems the PCU is no more. But events escalate: a series of brutal crimes seemingly linked to an old English folk-song threatens the very foundation of London society, and suddenly the PCU is offered a reprieve and is back in (temporary) business!
And if the two elderly detectives, ‘old men in a woke world’, do manage to set aside their differences and discover why some of London’s most influential figures are under life-threatening attack, they might not just save the unit but also prevent the entire city from descending into chaos....

The twists and turns are brilliant
Liked everything about the book and the narrator is the only one who could carry it off.

old friends
It was so good to hear Tim Goodman once again reading out Christopher Fowler's wonderful work. This story, similar to others in the series, has some wild criminal acts then proceeds to meander beautifully through the streets of London all pulled together by Arthur Bryant's (and probably Mr Fowler's) incredible love for our capital city.

All The Usual Good Stuff From Bryant & May
I listen to and enjoy books from different authors and different genres, but when I have a day to myself i find myself craving a good Bryant & May binge. Oranges & Lemons didn't disappoint.

Great series but stop me listening
The oddness is my type of book the way my mind works., so comforting. The
BUT is how the author has given into (I assume Americanisms) THERE ARE NO SINKS IN BATHROOMS OR TOILETS, they are basins. there are other errors.

Twists and turns galore
Mainly really well performed ,although some of the voices grated a bit! Enjoyed the nursery rhyme focus and learning about hidden meanings. Very twisty, turny plot that kept my interest and some endearing characters , particularly Colin and Mira. I didn’t see the ending coming!

Perfect easy listening
This took a little while to get in to, but once a I had it was a brilliant read. I enjoyed the fast pace of this book, and in the end, Bryan and May do it again. Very enjoyable, and very well performed.

Genius
This is a crime series which stands head and shoulders above the rest. The much-loved characters are a joy and the storylines are beyond brilliant. Tim Goodman’s narration is the best I’ve ever heard in well over 10 years of listening to audiobooks. Love this series with all my heart.

The end approaches…
Oh dear: another brilliant B&M, with an extremely pleasing twist at the end… but we know that there’s only one more to go, after the sad loss of Christopher Fowler. I have loved this series and its characters. What a pleasure it’s been to accompany them. I’m looking forward to one last outing with them, though I fear it will be immeasurably sad finally to part from them. And you couldn’t have had a more appropriate narrator than Tim Goodman, who must definitively be the voice of Bryant & May, particularly of Arthur Bryant.

Unusual detective story!
I have long been aware of the origins of the nursery rhyme and almost considered it an old A-Z of London but this was quite unexpected and I never saw the end coming !!
