About this listen
When newlyweds Agnes and Andrew Kinghof are present for the discovery of an over-ripe corpse in the air-raid shelter of their apartment building, the two set out to put their amateur detective skills to work. The dead man's sister is nearly frightened to death by the appearance of a grinning pig's head outside her window, and she claims to be threatened by someone calling himself 'The Pig'. The newlyweds deduce that it must be someone who lives in the same apartment building.
Set during the Second World War, this deceptively light-hearted pause-resister is one of two detective novels jointly written by Pamela Hansford Johnson and her first husband and journalist, Neil Stewart, under the joint pseudonym 'Nap Lombard'.

Absolutely brilliant!
I love golden age detective novels and this one is an absolute standout. Excellent narration and a witty, yet sometimes quite creepy story make for an excellent audiobook!

Reader has a touch of the Julien Clary's about him
The story itself takes a while to get going, and for the first few chapters the reader really gets on your wick. Once I realized he sounded faintly like Julien Clary trying to be serious I couldn't unhear it and as the plot was a bit slow it was all I focused on. Eventually the plot gets going and you can ignore the reader for the most part. The story is of it's time, but still has a few twists and turns that keep you entertained.

Good listen if you like old fashioned crime Drama narration was exquisite.I loved it ,wish there was a sequel with the heroine
Agnes kingenhoff and her husband Andrew in daring deeds under the nose of Pig of the yard.to solve murders almost on a daily basis .
Definitely of it’s time but it’s like a snap shot of wartime life ,albeit for the upper classes who in this book are mostly courageous and clever.Total fantasy, sadly nothing like real life now or then I’d imagine.

Very dated
This story is very much in the Tommy and Tuppence vein, but without the wit and intriguing plots of the Agatha Christie originals. Upper middle-class and well-off couple, with an aristocratic cousin in Scotland Yard, play at being detectives. I'm afraid the book just did not come alive for me.
