About this listen
Reynard Drake, solitary cybersecurity expert and curator of the Drake family fortune, would rather be chucked in the midden than forced to bed an omega, but as the selected Amethyst candidate for the mating experiment, he has no other choice. Resigned to his unhappy fate, he takes solace in the fact that one thing will never change -his virtual rival, Magpie, will always be there to keep him on his toes, even if he has been strangely absent from the internet lately...
Diamond Disgrace Misha Vasiliev has a secret. By day he learns what it takes to warm a dragon’s bed, but at night he’s Magpie, renowned hacker and dark web service provider who steals from dragons in his spare time. His favorite target? Reynard Drake, whom he's only ever seen in pictures, but whom Misha wants more than anyone else.
And now, with a faceless threat closing in on his cloister, quite possibly the only one capable of saving his life.
Magpie is a steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance set during the events of the Forbidden Desires series. It contains pretty things hidden where the sun don’t shine; a scandalous screenshot or two; plenty of laughs; its fair share of tense moments; and, of course, “Beagle!” For maximum enjoyment, Magpie is best listened as a companion piece to the Forbidden Desires series.

Such a great addition to the series!
Magpie is a spin-off story from the Forbidden Desires 'verse and for maximum enjoyment, you need to read it, or better yet, listen to it, in order.
Misha was a force of nature, a bit on the forceful, conceited side, probably due to his diamond dragon heritage, but with a good heart and an inherent knowledge of what Reynard needed from him, someone who could dominate him. And Reynard, even if he was a submissive dragon, he was up to the task to protect both his mate and his family when they needed him. They were just perfect for one other, despite how unconventional on dragon terms their relationship was. Misha and Reynard were hot and sweet and fun and were this close to dethroning Everard and Harry as my favorite FD couple.
Michael Ferraiuolo's performance from the series musical theme that I love to bits, to his versatility to give all the characters in the book distinctive voices and deliver a narration that made me laugh and cry and keep falling in love with this series, was as amazing as always. I don't think anyone could've brought these dragons and their mates to life quite like Michael does.
Overall, this is one of my favorite books in the series, it had sizzling hot mating scenes, hilarious moments, some angst and violence and I got to catch up with all the Drake dragons and their mates. Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly have done such a fabulous work with the series and the spin-offs and after this book, hopefully Bertram's story will come next, I'm very intrigued about him.

Great listen
Another wonderful read in the Forbidden Desires series, Magpie is both funny and sexy. The characters are wonderfully flawed, and have great chemistry together. I love how the Drake family continues to grow in both number, horde and love!
The narration by Michael Ferraiuolo continues to be outstanding. He truly brings out all the emotions with the voicing of these fantastic characters.

Speak Russian To Me
Where can I sign up to hire Michael Ferraiuolo to just follow me around and speak Russian to me all day? Cause I really need that in my life.
Seriously.
This book was amazing. The chemistry between Renaud and Mischa was out of this world, and I adored the unexpected twist of their relationship. Mischa is not the type of omega to do what he is told, and I love that he not only took charge of his destiny, but helped Renaud achieve his dreams too. The emotional levels of this book were off the chart, and the audio definitely worked to emphasise this. The action scenes temper it well, and makes for a well rounded and engaging read.
As always, Ferraiuolo's narration is flawless. He has quickly become not only my favourite narrator, but is one of the only narrators I buy anymore - no one can compare. His accents are fantastic, and his control of humour and emotion is perfect.
A great book all around. 100% reccomend!

Spectacular & Ferraiuolo is Simply Wonderful!
Spectacular!!!
Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly can keep on writing books in this universe till the end of time! I'll never get tired of these incredible characters, the amazing chemistry, and the wildly creative storylines.
Between this one and Swallow we've gotten some nice, kinky relationship dynamics. Magpie has the older, larger dragon as the submissive and the delicate omega is the dominant - and Scott and Kelly do an amazing job with it.
Please, please keep having Michael Ferraiuolo perform this series. His voices are amazing, and he can keep on speaking with a Russian accent till the end of time. I'll never get tired of listening to it. He's amazing.
Honestly, you can probably read any of these stories as standalones, but there are so many wonderful characters who contribute to the story, I think it's best to read them in order.
an audiobook copy of Swallow was provided to me for the purpose of my honest review

The dragons are back at it
Reynard Drake is responsible for watching over the finances of the amethyst clan. He’s observed his brothers get paired up and have baby dragons. This has never been of particular interest to him. Now, however, he’s been tasked for his brother-in-law Harry’s experiment of mating ‘disgraces’ with dragons. No one likes the term disgrace, but it’s been used for centuries. When Misha Vasiliev shows up at Reynard’s doorstep, he knows something’s afoot.
Mischa’s knowledge of cybersecurity rivals Reynard’s, and he’s made it his mission to steal from dragons. He’s matched wits with Reynard many times and when the opportunity to truly best the dragon is placed in front of him, he can’t refuse. What that means, however, is coming face-to-face with his nemesis. He lets Reynard know that Magpie is now living in his house.
Reynard is, frankly, besotted. This disgrace blows into his world and nothing is ever going to be the same. When Mischa’s place in his home is threatened, Reynard stands up for the man he loves, and of course his brothers step in to help. But dark forces are powerful and it’s going to take all of the Drakes to keep their newest member safe. So there is action in the book, to be sure. There is also the humor I’ve come to expect:
Everard came to stand beside the egg bed. “Do cover yourself, brother. Good,” he added after Reynard set the pillow in front of his groin. “No one wants to see that. Have some decorum.”
“I want to,” complained Harry, taking up a post beside the bed and opposite his mate. “I was so wrapped up in studying the attack when we went to rescue the eggs that I forgot to look. I wanted to compare dragon anatomy in both lizard and human forms for ages and it’s very disappointing you won’t let me. It’s science, Ev.”
“For the millionth time, Fois Gras, no. You will not ogle my relatives in dishabille under any circumstances.”
“But Ev!” Harry pleaded. “Science.”
“Lemon Grass, you get hung up on the strangest notions.” Everard sighed. “After we’re done here, we can go home and you can sketch me in the nude to your heart’s content. How does that sound?”
These two really are my favorite couple, although all the Drakes make an appearance. Soon Mischa finds himself embraced by all the love he can handle. I got my hoard, my dragonettes, and my happy ending - what more could I ask for? Well, another book might be nice. I hope one is in the works.
Michael Ferraiuolo is the narrator for the series and he’s perfect. He does Mischa’s Russian accent perfectly and nails Reynard’s snobbish British-like accent. And, again, his Harry is spot-on. Anyway…more please!

FANTASTIC
I love this series and Reynard's story is just perfect. Mischa is fiery and perfect for Reynard on every way. very exciting story that has all of the other brothers in it too. it feels like an integral part of the series rather than a spin off. the narrative is excellent and that sexy Russian accent is to die for.

Excellent
It's the most serious of the series so far and the drama and angst is down to the exploitative, sometimes selfish determination of one clever Omega.
Reynard is a sweet, adorable dragon who will sacrifice everything for his pedigree omega and offspring.
I really enjoyed the involvement of almost all of the family, especially the wonderful Harry and his snarky alpha, Everard.
I impatiently await Finch, the next in the series and eventually it being available in this format.
