About this listen
The latest Rachel Prince mystery by Dawn Brookes.
A body in the water. A plethora of suspects. Rachel Prince must be on another cruise! Plus, by popular demand, Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe returns....
The crew aboard the fictional Coral Queen find themselves stretched to the limit by the antics of a queen tribute act, a troublesome stag party, and a group of excitable female cheerleaders.
Rachel is accompanying Lady Marjorie on a cruise around the Baltics. The older woman is hoping for a mystery while Rachel seeks peace and quiet.
PC Rachel Prince, cruise ship sleuth, can't believe it when a man dies under suspicious circumstances. The probable homicide occurs shortly after an unpleasant encounter with a Freddie Mercury look-alike. Rachel and Marjorie find themselves absorbed by the man's untimely death and surrounded by suspicious characters with ample motive for killing the unpopular victim.
The Chief of Security wavers between involving Rachel in the investigation and keeping her away from it. Sarah, Rachel's best friend and cruise ship nurse, is keen to keep her out of harm's way, but it's a case of the irresistible force meets the immovable object when there's a mystery to be solved. Rachel is spurred on by the incorrigible Marjorie who is keen on interfering and testing her own sleuthing skills.
Chief Waverley and Sarah are fighting a losing battle and become more and more exasperated by Rachel's involvement. In addition to this, they both have problems of their own.
As the dead man appeared to have more enemies than friends, this mystery tests Rachel to the limit. She finds herself in danger as she tries to keep Lady Marjorie safe while solving the crime.
Join the crew and passengers aboard the Coral Queen for another exciting adventure at sea!

Man overboard!
I enjoy these cruise ship mysteries, even though cruising itself doesn't really call to me. I am becoming fond of the characters and love the sleuthing that goes on in each subsequent novel.
In this episode we have Rachel Price, accompanied by her elderly friend, Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe. They are barely on board, when a body tumbles over the side. Rachel is a Police Constable by profession and would happily leave the problem to the security professionals on the ship. Marjorie, on the other hand, can't resist a challenge and encourages Rachel to start snooping around.
There are some fun characters on this cruise, including the smarmy Freddie Mercury look-alike, who obviously has several enemies. Then there's an energetic stag party and a group of excitable female cheerleaders, which is bound to be a volatile combination. Rachel's friend, Sarah is travelling with them again and Chief Waverley, head of Security is responsible for solving the murder.
I enjoyed the narration by Alex Lee, in very correct English and with such a soothing lilt that I fell asleep on the plane while listening and had to replay the last few chapters three times!
I see that Dawn Brookes is releasing book 6 of this series in March and I hope that they will all be available on audio soon.

Great next one in series
Hello to my old friends. This could be a standalone but as I have listened to the previous two, it is a lovely return to old friends. I would describe as a cozy mystery with likeable characters and I love the cruise element and detail. Another winner for me.

More mystery murder and mayhem aboard ship!
I usually like my crime fiction to be a bit more gritty, but this cosy crime series set aboard a cruise ship makes a refreshing change.
The author, Dawn Brookes, has obviously done her research regarding cruises as the attention to detail is excellent. Her main characters are likeable and the story is well paced.
I do think though that, at some point in the future, Rachel Prince will need to join the ship’s staff in order to maintain the realism of the stories, as a humble PC wouldn’t be able to keep gallivanting off on cruises twice a year!
The narrator, Alex Lee is brilliant. Her intonation, expression and pace kept me invested in the story.
An enjoyable listen.

Entertaining read
Rachel Prince accompanied Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe on a cruise on the Coral Queen hoping for a relaxing holiday with her friend. Alas, it was not to be. The lead singer of the Queen Tribute act performing on the cruise is found in the sea, possibly murdered. Rachel is on the trail of the murderer when she is attacked, there are many suspects but it is intrepid Rachel who unmasks the culprit. An entertaining tale with familiar crew members and interesting shore visits along the way.

Like getting a lovely cuddle!
Oh Ms Brookes, how you spoil us with these books, elegantly and eloquently narrated by Alex Lee. Once again we take to the seas with the divine Rachel Prince. I would have loved to have a friend like Rachel. We could have gone on adventures, read The Famous Five together and what fun we'd have had. It is a delight to listen to such beautiful English, there's no dropped 'aitchs' in this book, (neither are there any 'haitchs' - it's aitch, AITCH for goodness sake!). Sorry, where was I? Oh yes, Ms Brookes writing reminds me how beautiful English can be when employed so gracefully. The story moves along at a fair pace and the characters are so well drawn you can't help but feel invested in the outcome. The mystery is solved and fair play is done, and quite right too. All I need to know is should I buy a hat for the wedding of Rachel and Carlos' - because it's about time they got married. Will Sarah be a bridesmaid? Can I be a bridesmaid? Listening to Killer Cruise is like getting a lovely cuddle from your favourite person; I didn't want it to end. Simply beautiful

Never disappoints
I really love this series of stories about Rachel and her friends but honestly I think the cruise lines should ban her from sailing as something always happens lol. This story was totally engaging and I listened to it in one setting. I love the dynamics between Rachel, Sarah and Marjorie as they try to discover who is responsible for the crime. This story was no different it was another exciting caper between the characters as they sail across the sea.

Another great addition to the series
Who would have thought that so much unpleasantness could happen aboard a cruise ship.
But seemingly the good ship the Coral Queen attracts those sorts of things.
Luckily for them they have our heroine Pc Rachel Prince.
I like how each book we learn more and more about Rachel and the firey old lady Marjorie and her old friend nurse Sarah.
As with previous books there is a lot going on but the writing is done in such a way that it is easy to follow and never a dull moment.
I love the covers for these books, simple yet colourful and attractive
We welcome back our favourite narrator Alex Lee who once again does a spectacular job of telling this story
so if you want a bid of cosy crime this winter try season, give this book and This series a go, it can work as a stand alone, with some minor references to previous books but it doesn’t effect the enjoyment of this latest book.

A fun listen
I love these stories. Rachel Prince is off on a cruise with her friend Lady Marjorie, who she’d met & befriended on a previous cruise.
Now if you’ve read or heard these stories you’ll know they’re never a peaceful cruise tale. But where would we be if they were?!
They’re a fun listen, even with the mayhem & thrills.
Narrator is great at keeping the mood & characters running along with the story.
A fun listen & im sure a good read too

A good series.
Rachel solves another murder on board the cruise ship. I enjoyed seeing familiar characters return on board and help Rachel with her investigating.
This was a very good read and I look forward to the next adventure.
